Mises Institute ^ | 01/23/2021 | Ryan McMaken

This, after all, was the original structure of the United States: it was to be a group of autonomous states united for purposes of foreign policy—and to a much lesser extent, trade.

Under a regime of autonomous US states, the American state—as viewed by other global powers looking in—would not look fundamentally different. The nukes would still be where they always were. The navy won't disappear.

We can no longer tolerate the status quo. Leftists, politically dominant and vengeful, would annihilate our constitutional rights if afforded the chance. They certainly have the motivation.

Instead of upholding a politically untenable federal union with radical Socialists who viciously despise us, let's embrace reality: the time has come for conservative/right libertarian towns, counties and states to seek autonomy from leftist control.

Let's maintain unity on the foreign affairs front, especially as it pertains to preventing foreign incursions into our country. Otherwise, states should once again control their domestic destiny.

Reign back the Interstate Commerce Clause to what was originally intended. That’ll fix a lot.

Senator Snarling Arlen Specter was responsible for a lot of the abuse.

The fact is..the founders vision for the United States was that the federal government was to make regular commerce between the states and foreign nations, and provide for the defense and general well being as a result of those two above.

That was about it. And to fund those, the federal government got the revenue out of import and export taxation.
