As we endure the political circus and charade of impeachment proceedings, does this reflect a great nation? The Book of Proverbs personifies wisdom as a woman calling out in the streets offering counsel. Is anybody in D.C. listening? How did we get to this contemptible place?
In 2008, presidential candidate Obama promised to fundamentally transform America. Well, "mission accomplished." Perhaps I give the former president too much credit, as he didn't build that, but his philosophy and policies directed our culture onto a path such that now everything has become political. It's infected our education, science, businesses, and even health care system. Like attending a movie in 3-D, everyone uses a political lens in which to view the world. Sadly, it is to the destruction of us all. Politics is a zero-sum game of winners and losers — us versus them. If politics is our governing mindset and prevailing worldview, then we will never have unity. A divided house falls.
Previously, U.S. politics was subservient to America's two mottos: In God We Trust and E Pluribus Unum. We are a nation under God and out of the many, we are one people. This was the unifying thought and the pivot point from which the political pendulum swung. The approach to a solution was progressive, conservative, or some triangulated version of the two, but there was always an overriding unity of honoring God and a common love and attitude of self-sacrifice for country — the JFK mantra of ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country.

Ever so occasionally the truth need a little help prevailing. It doesn’t get much of that in America these days. For a half century now PC has prevailed. America, basically, has been full of shit for that long. That’s what PC is “bullshit”.
The problem with truth is that it is very slow-moving, cumbersome, and highly unattractive.
As Twain said: “A lie can travel all the way around the world before the truth can even get its boots on.”
Or, as the (parsed) Ragnar Redbeard quote I have always had in my tagline says (the full, non-parsed quote): “All great truths are hard and bitter, but lies, to the morbidly-inclined, are sweeter than wild honey.”
75+ million of us already know the truth. Let’s see about this ‘prevail’ thingy.
The truth is a powerful ally and it prevails more often than not but in the age of disinformation, it is being given a run for its money.
It's a great quote and so relevant in the age of misinformation, but are you 100% sure it was Mark Twain's?
Been living in a cave for the past four years?
“Careless seems the great Avenger; history’s pages but record
One death-grapple in the darkness ‘twixt old systems and the Word;
Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne,—
Yet that scaffold sways the future, and, behind the dim unknown,
Standeth God within the shadow, keeping watch above his own.” - James Russell Lowell, “The Present Crisis”
Truth eventually wins, but we may not live long enough to see it, and perhaps even our grandchildren will not live long enough to see it.
lol
...Sounds like you’re about to prove me wrong. If so, don’t worry about sparing my feelings. I have pretty big shoulders. :P
While it’s true you can’t fool all the people all the time, history has amply demonstrated that you can fool most of the people most of the time.
There’s a reason our Tech Overlords are moving with some haste to de-platform contrarian, oppositional voices. That reason is they want to consolidate their power and influence over public opinion.
I’m very skeptical the ‘truth’ will have much cachet moving forward as the various mediums of mass communication slowly fall under the control of fewer and fewer people.
“Truth Always Prevails”
“Yeah, that’s the ticket!” Another example of someone that needs to place the bong on the table and just back away.
Gems from Spurgeon (1859) p. 74
Charles H. Spurgeon (1834-1892) English Baptist preacher
Jonathan Swift wrote on this topic in “The Examiner” in 1710 although he did not mention shoes or boots.
Falsehood will fly, as it were, on the wings of the wind, and carry its tales to every corner of the earth; whilst truth lags behind; her steps, though sure, are slow and solemn, and she has neither vigour nor activity enough to pursue and overtake her enemy…
Thomas Francklin-1787
Can waft a lie from Indus to the Pole.”
Lame Truth limps after too tardily to prevent the winged progress of her adversary.
English Poet, Alexander Pope. Lived 1688-1744
In 1820 an article about a complicated court case included a maxim that referred to truth pulling on boots. Thus, the statement moved closer to the popular modern adages with shoes and boots. The expression was placed between quotation marks, but no attribution was given:
The public mind has been too much inflamed in this transaction, by misrepresentations—these the examination have materially corrected, but the influence of the corrective, does not extend as far as the injury of the falsehood: “for falsehood will fly from Maine to Georgia, while truth is pulling her boots on.”
In 1821 William Tudor who was the editor of the important U.S. literary publication “The North American Review” wrote an article in which he credited an instance of the remark to the statesman Fisher Ames: 6
…recollecting Mr. Ames’ remark, that “a Lie would travel from Maine to Georgia while Truth was getting on his boots;”…
In 1834 “The New-England Magazine” printed an instance with a different vocabulary: 8
…error will run half over the world while truth is putting on his boots to pursue her…
Obama was what the founders tried to prevent when they insisted on a natural born citizen.
I’m looking forward to hearing the truth about the Kennedy assassinations...
You’ll soon be able to say:
Obama and Kamala were what the founders tried to prevent when they insisted on a natural born citizen requirement.
Discouraged? Remember: Truth Always Prevails
It may somewhere but it is most certainly gone in this country. Lead by the District of Corruption this country will now believe anything those bastards tell them.
Just look around and you can see all the followers out there doing exactly as they are told.
The other day I had an overwhelming feeling of peace and that God is in control. I was so thankful for that.
Today I realized that the Left, in all of history, has won by telling lies on their enemy - over and over and over again.
We need to push back. We need to document as much as we can in case we need it for proof over their lies.
As Churchill said (paraphrased here): Never give up. Never, never never never give up.
