The York County Republican Committee late Saturday censured U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey following his decision to find former President Donald Trump guilty at the end of the weeklong impeachment trial.
Trump was acquitted by a 57-43 Senate vote.
The committee in its press release said that Toomey’s voting record over the past four years runs counter to the principles of the GOP and that he’s out of touch with the core beliefs of Pennsylvania Republicans.
“For the past four years Sen. Toomey sat silently as a hyper-partisan Democrat Congress relentlessly attacked President Trump, impeaching him twice on fabricated charges,” said state House Representative Dawn Keefer, who proposed the resolution. “Given [Toomey’s] recent support of the second unconstitutional impeachment effort against a president who is no longer in office, the York County Republican Committee has reached the limits of its frustration.”
Jeff Piccola, the committee chairman, said it’s “so sad that Sen. Toomey has never attempted to reach out to the York County Republican Party to justify his vote to proceed with the House’s impeachment of President Trump with an investigation, evidence or due process.”
He added that it’s “imperative that Republican voters in York County know that the York County Republican Committee does not approve or condone many of the positions and recent actions of Sen. Toomey and no longer recognizes him as a creditable representative of our party.”
Censure Resolution of United States Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey, Jr. February 13, 2021

WHEREAS, United States Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey, Jr. sat silent, failing to address the legitimate concerns of his constituents; and,

WHEREAS, The Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, in likely recognition of the folly that is the United States Senate’s Impeachment trial, refused to preside over the trial; and,
WHEREAS, The United States Senate, in direct contravention of Article I, Section 3of the United States Constitution, has proceeded with an Impeachment trial without the Chief Justice presiding; and,
WHEREAS, In a staggering deprivation of Due Process and the right to a fair and unbiased tribunal, United States Senator Patrick Leahy is serving as judge, juror and witness in the Impeachment trial; and,
WHEREAS, United States Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey, Jr. endorsed this unprecedented unconstitutional action when he voted to proceed with an Impeachment trial for a President that is no longer in office; and,
WHEREAS, United States Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey, Jr.’s voting record is replete with positions that are counter to the principles of the Republican Party and out of touch with the core beliefs of the People of Pennsylvania; and,

they ought to pay for siding with the enemy.
there was not a lick of evidence on Trump..not a lick ..and for a fellow rep..to vote to convict.. he should be replaced immediately.
the guilty accused him.. the guilty lied to the whole world about my Prez...and thus about me.
I want the press shut down and so too. the print. I want the talking.showing heads shut down also
He’s a fraud. He challenged Arlen Spector in 2006, because Spector wasn’t conservative enough.
LET HIM BE KNOWN AS A ‘QUITER’ AND A WEAKLING, WORTHLESS FORMER SENATOR OF PA...
MAY HE REAP WHAT HE HAS SOWN...
enough said...
I was shocked by his vote, he should be voted out for this.
“For the past four years Sen. Toomey sat silently as a hyper-partisan Democrat Congress relentlessly attacked President Trump, impeaching him twice on fabricated charges,”
Indeed. A lot of cowardly pieces of filth who want to empower Democrats.
I don’t know about Pennsylvania but here in California Independents can vote in primary elections.
That’ll teach him!
primary his sorry ass with a true conservative
HE ISN’T RUNNING AGAIN!!!
everybody needs a little feel good ca ca sometimes. ;)
Arlen Toomey needs to be railroaded out of Pennsylvania. Give him no peace. If he ever appears in public again, get in his face. Send a message to any other RINO that they will get same treatment.
“..Might spread...one reason for posting it here, to plant ideas...”
I called a friend who on on a Republican Party county committee in a nearby county and suggested he call a special meeting for the sole purpose of censuring Burr. He agreed but said the chairman was pretty sick with Covids. He knows the whole committee is in Trump’s corner and would call around.
Thanks, FRiend...we must hold the traitors accountable.
Gotta vote party in Pa. No independents. Guys like this turd say what you want to hear when they’re running and then you wind up being disappointed. There should be a tar and feather clause for every elected official.
Toomey was way past his sell by date. An uninterrupted decade in DC and even a seemingly good conservative is usually well on his way to perdition. My rule-of-thumb for the Senate after two terms and vote for a different one in the primary. Voting Rat can’t be contemplated.
I agree with you.
“According to KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, several county GOP committees have already voted to censure Toomey, including York, Clarion, Lawrence, Washington and Centre. “
Romney ran as a Tea Party guy. Every year he became more RINO. He’s not running again and I’ll bet dollars to donuts he already has a fat deal with some company like BlackRock that is cozy with Biden & Co. This last bit of treachery was no doubt paying his dues up front for the sweet gig he has waiting.
Bastard.
