You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

"Flautist, not flutist" -- I thought that, too, so I looked it up: "
Flutist or Flautist โ Which is Correct?. This site claims that "flutist" has been around 250 years longer than "flautist" and that the English wanted a distinctly British word so they added the "a." "Flautist" IS mainly used by the Brits. Kind of like "aluminium" (but at least the Brit version makes sense when you consider other metals like sodium, titanium, and potassium).

My personal observation is that serious flute players are usually high IQ, intellectuals.
My daughter reached the Children’s Symphony while in high school and won several gold medal in competition.
She now only practices to relax, as college studies don’t allow time for extra curricular activities. She’ s post-grad in neuro-science and starting medical school next year.

When James Galway was asked which was the correct pronunciation...he said “I play a flute, not a flaute.” ๐

Flautist, not flutist. I haven't seen a picture of her. She might be a flute honey.

IMHO, the BSO is one of the nation’s outstanding symphony orchestras, especially when Marin Alsop is conducting. I purchase season’s tickets and they are far, far better than the National Symphony Orchestra.

Flautist, not flutist.Years ago, in this country and in England, flautist or flute player was the preferred descriptor but the vulgarians have taken over.
Even James Galway says, "I am a flute player, not a flautist. I donโt have a flaut, and Iโve never flauted.โ

I love it when artsy types are brave and independent enough to move past the peer pressure and mindless groupthink of the leftists around them. The left hates free speech.
