Too few women GS leaders were willing or able to take their troops camping or on high adventure activities. Hence...Boy Scouts.
It’s sad.....boys need that boy energy with no girls around. Girls need the same. I wish nuts would stop trying to change everything.

And if they did, they were so focused on completing the task, they missed the entire point of the program.
Scouting is not “Hungry Hungry HIppos”. It’s to be practiced, applied and passed on to others. How many merit badges you earn is not the point. The point is to experience new things and apply that knowledge.
A few year from now, they’ll have retained virtually nothing from the experience.
Then again, a few years from now, there likely won’t be a BSA anyway.
They only need to earn 21 merit badges for the Eagle Scout rank.
I hope the Boy Scouts goes bankrupt and dissolves. Parents with adolescent boys should be looking at alternatives like Trail Life USA.

But Miss Tunney completed 137 merit badges. I would like to see the dated completion chart.
Individualism does not compute in collectivist systems.
It’s not even possible due to the time restraints required for ranks. (6 months each except for star rank). It’s over 2 years just to get through the rank advancements.
One merit badge was a macro. The “Fundamentally Change America From What We Once Knew It”. It covers everything.

Yeah, I have trouble believing that any Scout earned Eagle Scout rank and 137 merit badges in only 19-20 months.
Having said that, some motivated Scouts are taking advantage of COVID and the ability to use Zoom / Teams to interact with merit badge counselors and earn a bunch of merit badges — especially over the summer when they didn’t have much else going on.

Exactly. GS imploded by giving up everything that made it girl SCOUTS. Now it’s girls making crafts and playing games and spending weekends in hotels.
If a girl wants a “scout” experience, Scouts BSA is the only serious alternative. American Heritage Girls is good but far from the same scale.
