In incredible dissent, federal judge launches broadside attack on SCOTUS precedent protecting left-wing press
The Blaze ^ | 03/19/21 | Chris Pandolfo

A federal judge called for a landmark Supreme Court decision on freedom of the press and libel laws to be overturned in a fiery dissent decrying "bias against the Republican Party," blasting the near "one-party control" of legacy news media, slamming Silicon Valley's censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story, and warning that the current state of American media is "a threat to a viable democracy."

The media has defined "freedom of the press" as freedom to lie through their frickin teeth!

The New York Times provides daily examples, each lie bolder and more outrageous than the last.

Malta’s Agent Roberts not gonna like this.

The Honest Judge better suit up, since SCOTUS treats
Honest Judges, like Justice Scalia, very, very badly.

A REAGAN judge. Nice to see someone responding to what’s happening. Problem is that the toddlers on the Supreme Court probably got too brainwashed to realize the significance of having a press that is now a ‘player’ rather than just reporting. But who knows, maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised, for once.

First, it warms the heart that we have at least one federal judge who’s not afraid to speak truth to power.

Second, no one should lose sight of the fact that these special 1A privileges against defamation claims weren’t created until 180-years AFTER the Constitution was adopted (by judicial fiat, no less).

Lastly, it pains me every time I see a judge/group of judges protect this kind of bad, defaming media behavior by speaking so deferentially, almost religiously about the freedom of ‘the press’ and pretending that when Madison wrote those words, he was referring to professional journalists. He wasn’t. He was referring to the actual PRINTING PRESS. It wasn’t until early in the 20th century did the phrase ‘The Press’ become a euphemism for professional media, or media of any kind.

This Reagan appointee was spot-on in his critique of the current problem of Sullivan v. NY Times.

I hope you're right, but I doubt it.

He’s a Reagan appointee and over 80 years old. So, he doesn’t need to play anybody’s game anymore.

The problem of a biased and one sided media would not be remedied by over turning New York Times v. Sullivan. It would just give the left an easier time waging all out lawfare against conservative media.

Look at Michael Mann’s defamation lawsuit against National Review and Mark Steyn. It has taken eight years and millions of dollars in litigation costs to finally get Mann's suit against National Review thrown out, but his suit against Steyn is still pending.
