Proof Hopkins is a racist unless he turns that award over to the black guy. Maybe he will be shamed into that.
Anthony Hopkins on Why He Doesn’t Talk About Politics: ‘Actors Are Pretty Stupid’!!!
In a conversation with fellow actor Brad Pitt for a lengthy chat for Interview magazine, Anthony Hopkins explained why he seldom — actually: never — talks about politics... and why he’s not a big fan of other actors talking about politics either. In short: “Actors are pretty stupid.”
“People ask me questions about present situations in life, and I say, ‘I don’t know, I’m just an actor,’” Hopkins told Pitt. “ I don’t have any opinions. Actors are pretty stupid. My opinion is not worth anything. There’s no controversy for me, so don’t engage me in it, because I’m not going to participate.”

“There seems to have been an actual decline in rational thinking. The United States had become a place where dumb entertainers like former Actors aka “has beens!” and former professional athletes aka dumb jocks, were mistaken for people of importance.
They were idolized and treated as leaders; their opinions were sought on everything and they took themselves just as seriously — after all, if an athlete/entertainer is paid a million or more a year, he/she knows he/she is important … so his/her opinions of foreign affairs and domestic policies must be important, too, even though he/she proves themself to be both ignorant and sub literate every time he/she opens their mouth. (Most of his/her fans were just as ignorant and unlettered; the disease was spreading.)”

Good riddance and what a yawn...
No one knows. But since it was a black role, obviously it belonged to a black guy.
Congratulations Anthony Hopkins! I don’t know his politics... and that is because he has steadfastly refused to get into politics:

“I purposely don’t go to movies anymore. I don’t support unappreciative “actors” or whatever they call themselves.”
Then you shouldn’t have watched any movies with Humphrey Bogart, Kurt Douglas, Lauren Bacall, and many, many more actors who were lib/socialists in days of yore. Ronald Reagan, when he was President of the Screen Actors Guild was warned about the infiltration of communists into the business, on all levels. That didn’t stop Reagan, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart and other conservatives from appearing in movies that had liberal actors in them. The difference is that now the actors are much, much more overt in their radical ideology and/or wokeness. It’s just a matter of degree now as versus then.
I will still watch movies (mostly the old classics) because of an actor’s skill at his/her trade. You better not buy any computers, go to MLB games, basketball games, buy from Amazon, watch TV, use Google, go to Disney World, etc. etc. etc. if you plan on a ban of all cultural events that involve lefties.
Liberals constitute a large percentage of our population now, and what we must win is the ideological battle through persuasion. If our Country comes to the point of being a dictatorship, then we must do whatever is necessary to overthrow it. Until that happens, you can’t ban everything in the culture tainted by liberals, and may as well enjoy a good movie when one presents itself, past or present.
Just under your 20 year deadline, in 2004 the movie The Return of the King won several oscars. That was the last year I watched an award show on TV. In fact, it was the last year the nominated “best picture” movie was one I had seen or had any interest in seeing.
And, ever the gracious host, had a good friend over for dinner.
