President Joe Biden is expected to nominate former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to serve as the U.S. ambassador to Japan, according to a person familiar with the president’s decision.
The person, who was not authorized to comment publicly about the matter and spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday, said the White House plans to announce Emanuel’s nomination later this month.
Emanuel is a former three-term congressman who served as Barack Obama’s first White House chief of staff and was a senior adviser in Bill Clinton’s administration.

Revolving Obama door.
What did Japan do to deserve that?
I guess Rahm’s comments about “Never let a disaster go to waste” re the Fukiyama reactor disaster didn’t go over well with Tokyo. /sarc
So he’s not running for Virginia governor?
My first question too.
Good grief....
The position previously held by the ditzy kennedy girl?
Obviously the guy you want relaying instructions if/when Japan needs to fight the PLA/PLAN for those contested rock “islands”. /sarc
The assclown show continues.
I think that’s going to be Terry McAuliffe.
Deep State doesn’t have a deep bench.
It has a collection of dunce chairs.
And it likes it that way.
It's not kowtowing to the ChiComs yet.
Rahm Emanuel, the man who was widely reported to have rammed a dagger into a conference room table to emphasize what would happen to people who disagreed with him. That Rahm Emanuel? Awesome!
Having dealt with the Japanese I can testify that they never disagree with you. It’s impolite. Instead, to whatever you say, they answer, “Yes.” Then, absolutely nothing happens. The Japanese will survive this like a they’d survive a storm. They’ll hunker down and wait for it to pass.
A few pieces if improperly prepared fugu should fix the problem.
Emanuel’s hubris is a guarantee that no progress will take place to anyone’s advantage.
“What did Japan do to deserve that?”
Japan’s population dropped by 400,000 last year due to lack of births. Maybe Rahm he’ll bring his brother over to ‘speed things up a bit’.
That’s a HUGE insult to the Japanese..and they don’t do insults very well!😎
They are getting him out of the country before he starts more trouble in Illinois. Rumor - Rahm was going to run against Tammy Duckworthless in the 2022 Senate primary.
