The US has a net population growth of 0.7% (2021), which works out to 2.2 million a year. I suspect the number is greater if we factor in the number of illegal aliens who cross undetected. Mass immigration more than makes up the deficit caused by lower fertility rates.
Your concern should be the destruction of the nuclear American family. 40% of births are out of wedlock. 73% of blacks are born out of wedlock.
Again, the US is not facing a demographic catastrophe. Our population continues to grow. Quality of life is an issue. Our social welfare net is stressed and our cities are decaying with increased crime, lousy schools, and high unemployment.
Abortion kills tens of thousands annually. Blacks have the highest abortion rates. Without abortion, the black population would be double what it is today, i.e., 90 million instead of the current 45 million.
All true...but relying on immigration to raise population is bad. In the long run we need to hit 2.1 or greater TFR every year.
