Also, I can see where a country like Ireland that had a chunk of it annexed by England would be sensitive to the Palestinian case.
It would be really nice if Israel basically admitted that since they have no peace treaty with many of the countries that went to war with them in the 60's and 70's that they are still technically at war. Then they can claim the West Bank as spoils of war. They seem to have done that already with the Golan Heights.
Aside from their self-serving low corporate-tax regime, the Republic of Ireland is a nearly monolithic, doctrinaire leftist nation. Their popular referenda embracing sodomite “marriage” and abortion on demand were utterly disgraceful.
How would their own land be “spoils of war”?
Also, it’s Judea-Samaria rather than “West Bank”.
The Irish are sympathizing with the imperialists here, those being Ottoman revanchists who seek “pan-Arabism”. And they are fine with the EU “colonizing” Ireland. England’s claim on Ireland under Henry II was originally validated by Pope Adrian IV and held up by his successor Pope Alexander III, BTW.
Isreal should have kept everything betwixt the Nile, the Euphrates, and north to include Constantinople....
The bottom line to anyone with an ounce of knowledge of military affairs is that Israel has indefensible borders without the West Bank territory, and to a certain extent the Golan. The Syrians used to snipe Israeli farm tractors with tank gunfire in “peacetime” from the Golan heights. That’s why they didn’t get them back after the war. The West Bank situation should be obvious to anyone who can read a map.
The same Prime Minister that planted the seed for the Jewish homeland in Palestine did a lot of damage in occupied Ireland; that has led to some commiserating.
Except the English really did annex Irish land.
There is no annexation of Arab land going on, and never had been.
There are three claimants to the land: Egypt, Israel, and Jordan. All agree this is Israeli land (or at least not theirs).
Yes; James Connolly was apparently greatly admired by Lenin.
