John Hinckley Jr., the gunman who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in a bid to win actress Jodie Foster’s heart, has traded his six-shooter for a six-string — racking up thousands of views on YouTube with his guitar renditions of sentimental love songs.
Hinckley, now 66, won a lengthy court battle last year, freeing him to publicly display his music, writings and other art, and potentially make a living in the recording industry.

My guess that the only reason he has any views is precisely because of who he is.

According to Rolling Stone, DEVO got in touch with Hinckley and acquired one of his demented love poems to Foster and adapted it into a song called “I Desire.”

I would guess it is curiosity.
Even I am curious to see what he looks like today and if he has any talent at all.

I don’t care if he has the talent of Perry Como. You think he would be out if he had shot a Democrat president or his family wasn’t friends of the Bushes?
Does he know that the woman he wanted to impress, Jody Foster, is gay?
She probably went gay after she discovered that she was attractive to men like Hinckley.
We need some fun song titles for Hinckley’s work.

You may not remember that Reagan pushed legislation that released people from insane asylums.
Maybe you’re correct but on the other hand perhaps he is out because of legislation that Reagan himself supported.

Fun Fact: Charlie Manson also wanted to have a music career.
Terry Melcher (son of Doris Day) was a music producer.
He produced many acts, including the Beach Boys.
Bandmate Dennis Wilson introduced Terry to Charlie Manson.
For a while, Terry was interested in recording Manson’s music, as well as making a film about The Family and their hippie commune existence. Manson met Melcher at 10050 Cielo Drive, the home that Terry shared with his girlfriend, actress Candice Bergen and Mark Lindsay.
Terry was unimpressed with Charlie’s singing, and turned down Manson’s request for a recording contract.
