All Nerve Agent Projectiles now destroyed at Blue Grass Army Depot

The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) team destroyed the last of the 155mm projectiles containing VX nerve agent on May 28.

“There are two important milestones to recognize here,” said Dr. Candace Coyle, BGCAPP site project manager. “This marks not only the completion of the second of five destruction campaigns in Kentucky, but also the destruction of all projectiles containing nerve agent in the U.S. chemical weapons stockpile.”

With the completion of the VX 155mm projectile campaign, BGCAPP teams will now focus on completing destruction of mustard-filled projectiles and preparing for destruction of nerve agent-filled rockets.

Suppose Islamic terrorists tried to break in and steal some of these weapons, but it goes horribly wrong and kills 5,000 Central Kentuckians.

The news media reaction: yawn.

I’m sure that doing this will be as effective in preventing our enemies from using nerve agents on us as gun control prevents criminals from using guns on us.

It's long been stated US policy that a chemical or biological attack on us earns a nuclear response.

Chemical warfare agents aren't very effective against a modern military force equipped to handle them anyway. They mostly kill civilians and pollute territory.

All the chemical weapons at Blue Grass could have been destroyed 20 years ago. Activists delayed it and Sen. Mitch McConnell enabled (the delay) to the tune of billions.

The problem with all of our chemical weapons is they are all past their best by dates. Some of them are leaking and the storage areas can only be entered wearing a full bio suit. Because of their age, some dating from the forties and fifties, they are far more dangerous to us than any potential enemy. We are storing a disaster in-waiting. None of the weapons I’ve researched can be deployed anywhere as they are far too dangerous, due to deterioration.

Also, the reason they are not used by our enemies is they know we can produce them overnight. Although, I doubt any US regime would retaliate in kind as the media only covers bad things the US does and ignore anything our enemies do. (Think of the recent Palestinian/Israeli conflict, but with bodies dripping fluids and twisted into agonizing final positions.)

Not to mention that they have a nasty habit of biting back at those who deploy them.

Yet someone attacked us with anthrax, on a small scale. China somehow caused at least thousands of deaths, no military reaction from the US.

China killed 600,000+ Americans in the last 18 months using a biological agent.

Is that not an attack? Where's the nuclear response? I'm waiting.....

I didn't say the policy was necessarily followed, just telling you what it is.

But I think we both know that a nuclear exchange with China would kill a lot more than 600,000 Americans ... in the first hour.

Yep, exactly.

Which is why a policy that prescribes a never-used response is worse than none at all. It's like a law that everyone knows would never get enforced -- all it does is destroy respect for the system as a whole.

But then, I doubt China has much respect for us at this point.

Nerve gas is really really bad sh!t. I would nuke my enemy before any bio agents. I’m just merciful like that.
