I was the only House in my area that had power for four days during the snow storm. Why? Because my 15,000 watt tracking axis solar system worked every day even under clouds they still put out over 1200 watts. All my neighbors came over when they saw my lights still on. We had BBQ and cold beers while they marveled at my systems set up. My heat pumps has the house at 85 during the day everyone’s in shorts and Ts the covered pool was also at 80. Four of my neighbors now have panels up they won’t be dark again ever. At night since the house has thermal mass built in the walls and floors it never got below 70 inside before the sun came up again. The 8” of snow cannot stick to panels covered in hydrophobic coatings it just slide right off of them as they tracked the sun at a 35 degree angle. For $12000 I can put up a 15kw per hour system that in sunny Texas will run your meter backwards so much every month the power company pays you. For a 3500 sqft or smaller home 15,000 watt system will generate a negative power bill 12 of 12 month’s and pay it self off in 5 years or less if you contract as a peak power provider to the local grid the minimum size of that system is 15,000 watts. Home values in this location are 650,000 to 2 million a $12000 investment on a mortgage loan is nothing. The panels have a 25 year capacity warranty and a hail rating plus home owners insurance coverage as do the inverters. Bulk panels are 15 cents per watt and inverters are 20 a competent Electrician can run the transfer breakers for under a grand and four guys can out the panels up in 8 hours labor which even at $15 hr is a small fraction of the value of the system.

If only it were Just 50.

In regards to the idea that we can ban ICE vehicles by 2035.
In the US we drive 3.2 trillion miles a year.

Electric cars use ~.03 kwh/mile.
That’s 96 BILLION MW

We would need to build 6.9 BILLION MW a year, 571 MILLION MW per Month, 132 MILLION MW per day, starting TODAY, JUST for the extra electricity to charge the cars.

It’s pure insanity to think that can be done.

But they don’t really think it can. It’s about removing your ability to travel freely whenever you wish.

It’s all about power and control over the people.

Let me get this straight.

So your claiming you ran a heat pump system on 1.2 kw? And had enough extra capacity to charge batteries to have lights on in the evening?

The cul de sac we live on got new PGE lines about 6/7 years ago and every home got updated with new power lines to our new smart boxes to prepare for all the new vehicles.

We have 5 Piuses on our street which is the equivalent to 2 city blocks with 18 homes total.

Also, there are 2 Teslas and a couple of Euro small vehicles posing as cars.

At least 8 homes have an office that is used daily, including ours.

One of the new home owners was going get a new Tesla and apparently PG&E/??? told him that might cause a problem.

In the summertime, when we go into high electricity demand and higher rates from 1 PM to 9 PM. If all of the Teslas, Piuses, other combo vehicles and offices went on using electricity and charging at the same time, that could/might be a problem.

Besides more use in summer with AC, we have at least 9 college kids home in our area for the holidays and summers using every electronic system they have from noon to ???? Our Comcast Business wifi slows down from about noon/1pm until 9 pm with everyone on line.

$287 Billion is Chickenfeed when you are talking about a $2.2 TRILLION DOLLAR Spending Bill on top of the other multi TRILLION DOLLAR Kung Flu Spending Bills.

Then we have the $6.3 TRILLION DOLLAR Xiden Budget Proposal on top of that.

I assume it will be a Hate Crime to utter the phrase “Deficit Spending” ever again.

Mostly the “Elite” own these crap cars - so this amounts to Federal government subsiding the relatively wealthy at the expense of everyone else.

“damn car payments are more than the mortgage!!!”
YUP!
At “zero” interest, the 5 year, $60,000, would cost
$1,000 per month. That’s why the loan terms have been increased to 80 or 90 months!
But, in 8 years, you are paying the bill with less valued money. What a deal?

Bingo. Our un elected rulers do not intend for us, the common folks to have a new vehicle. So price them out of the market. Then only the old and new elites will have

I’m 82 and my wife is 81. Our siblings and cousins our age, still own gas powered vehicles, and all of us still drive.

Our parents on both sides drove well past age 80 if they lived that long, and they told us to never give up our vehicles.

They knew that selling your car and depending on relatives, friends and local transportation could really isolate you. They called that, “Insane rationing without a war.!”
