Saturday, MSNBC “Cross Connection” host Tiffany Cross sounded off on HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher mocking Lin-Manuel Miranda for apologizing for not having more Afro-Latino representation in the movie “In the Heights.”
In an open monologue, Cross told Maher that he does not “get to tell people of color what they should or should not be offended by.” She advised him to stay in his lane on the subject until he has had a diverse panel on his show discussing “colorism.”

The 1st Amendment says we don’t have “lanes” in the US.
Free speech has a meaning and that meaning does not include the right to not be offended.
This is the world people like Maher helped to make.
They by that matter, POC, you don’t get to tell me what a racist I am. Pound sand.
“Stay in your lane” is as offensive as “know your place”.
Even fellow leftist Maher’s occasional one minute of heterodoxy in a 60 minute show is too much for the commissars.

Actually Maher does have that right. It’s called free speech, and it’s a cornerstone of our civilization.
But for a moment let’s assume that Cross is right. Only Blacks can criticize other Blacks. Then logically only Whites can criticize other Whites. Only Californians can criticize other Californians. Only plumbers can criticize other plumbers.
Even Cross would have to see how silly - and stifling - that would be.

This ignorance about the true meaning of the 1st Amendment shows the corrosion going on from the education community into the Leftnick media. This deterioration will cause a collapse of our nation as severe as the collapse of the Champlain Towers.

That’s very true. But it looks like Maher is beginning to see that he helped create a Frankenstein monster. So he’s starting to speak out.
That doesn’t excuse his often-disgusting past behavior, of course. Nevertheless Maher deserves some credit here. He is risking his career. And he’s telling the truth to people who would otherwise not hear a word of it.
