A University of Chicago student was killed in a freak tragedy when a stray bullet ripped through his subway-car window during the commute home from his summer internship, police and loved ones say.
Max Solomon Lewis, a 20-year-old junior from Denver, Colo., succumbed Sunday morning to injuries he suffered from the slug that pierced a window of the train at the 51st Street Green Line station, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
“It’s a senseless tragedy for so many reasons,” classmate Zach Cogan told the outlet.
Lewis, who was pursuing a double major in economics and computer science, had snagged a competitive internship at an investment firm in downtown Chicago for the summer.

This is true tragic. A university of Chicago student is probably the best of the best in wherever he attended high school
I’m so glad that my daughter moved from Chicago to Fort Collins, Colorado a couple of years ago. I never liked her being in that shythole.
Or anyone else for that matter.
Yes it is. But bullets go where they are aimed and fired without discrimination. Just ask the family of the incoming middie whose mother was killed by a stray last week in Annapolis. Eventually people are going to take to dealing with these wild bangers themselves. Because local authorities do not seem to have either the will or the means to deal with it.
Senseless or sniper?
I know the Garfield station he was at quite well. Cross Washington park and its like entering a different world.
Without the University of Chicago, which is like an oasis of civilization that supports productive humanity in several neighborhoods around it, the entire south side would be a hellscape.
A stray bullet ended up hitting an L train car? Gosh how sad. A stray bullet fired by whom, for what reason? Inquiring minds want to know.
I believe one of the reasons they’re letting crime run amok - besides the obvious reasons - is they’re trying to get ‘gun crime’ as high as possible hoping it will turn public opinion on the 2nd Amendment.
It’s clear no matter if or how many bodies pile up like cord wood in NYC or Chicago that Democrats don’t have ANY worry about losing their grip on absolute power. So, they turn the savages loose on their own streets simply to build the ‘gun crime’ stats. Are Democrats that callous about their own constituents? Sure they are.
There is no such a thing as a “stray bullet”.
Somebody sent that bullet exactly where it was, and that individual needs to be held accountable for their action.
Some Amish lad is probably laughing with his buddies right now.
It’s not even safe to pass through Chicago in train anymore. Avoid Chicago like a plague.
The flaw in your request is that the mayor gives a rat's ass about the families of people who get killed in Shitcago.
Or, just an idiot showing off.

Obama allowed and assisted BLM to form, for the purpose of burning cities like Ferguson and Oakland, to shock the rest of the country into guilt, anger, frustration, and to justify "government" action.
Freak?? Appears that people being shot by stray bullets in Chicago is happening more and more often.
I am unfamiliar with the current Green Line, It seems to run parallel with the Garfield, but WAY too close to MLK Blvd. He should have taken the Metra by the lake, or at least the equivalent of the #6 Jeffrey Express bus. Once you get west of Cottage Grove things get real bad real fast.
I know the family. It is tragic
“Lewis’s fraternity has launched a GoFundMe page which will donate part of the funds to benefit anti-gun violence efforts.
“Chicago has so much gun violence, like every city. It’s so senseless,” Cogan told the Denver Channel. “I can’t lose another friend to gun violence. I just can’t. It’s too much.””
What dumb@$$es!
The ONLY thing that will make a difference is locking up the criminal gang-bangers and throwing away the key.
