That's a great point. If you really want to see a dominant national sports team, watch videos of the 1987 Canada Cup hockey tournament. The best-of-three finals between Canada and the Soviets were arguably three of the ten greatest hockey games ever played. Game 2 of that series -- a 6-5 win for Canada in double overtime -- is #1 on my list.

The Canadians had a roster world-class players who were NHL All-Stars in the prime of their careers. Only a tiny handful of those players have NOT been inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame. But what made that team so strong was that you had world-class players who were unselfish enough to play secondary roles and make big contributions in those roles. Imagine a Hall of Famer who would eventually accumulate 500+ career goals in the NHL, playing on a third or fourth line in a hockey game -- and doing a superb job as the best defensive player every time he stepped on the ice.

Team USA players will be hounded by other teams with snarky comments for the rest of their NBA careers.

Clutch foul shot and someone says “Monsieur est un perdant” ought to be good for a distraction.

Too many “all stars” and not enough role players. That is what Kevin Love would have brought to the team.

I didn't watch the game, but I suspect that it was a lot like most "all star" teams - they didn't practice together enough to become a team. The US would have probably done better with just picking up a team which lost in the NBA tournament and playing them as the Olympic team.

They should be fine with a participation trophy. 🏆

The way the US people have responded to the covid tyrants and those who steal their freedom is akin to these Olympic losses. Meh fold up the tents and go home. It’s ovah!

At least the French have gotten rebellious. We sit back and think the next election is going to save us.

Trump tried, he was a leader, but he lacked active freedom fighters. They left it all to him alone in a swamp of scum.

I am really scared when they decide to force people for the jabs. Will fellow Americans stand for freedom? I am no longer convinced they will.

Anxiety abounds in people now. This is not America.

The left will fight freedom, the right won’t get nasty to save it.

US basketball lost to France. I don’t care who you are, that’s funny.

It's not often you see the words "lost to France" used in a sentence.

Won’t be surprised if it’s proven that they threw it.

I am happy they lost. Now we don’t have to watch the traitors kneel during the National Anthem.

This was likely the secret sauce behind the 1980 Olympic hockey team win. That was not a collection of NHL superstars on a two-week "vacation" but a real team of motivated amateurs (kids just out of high school) put together by the late Herb Brooks and they practiced together for months and months. A true team.

Well there’s another factor at play. The rules of the game in the NBA are not followed. So the NBA players are not as talented as we are led to believe and they are not used to having to follow rules that limit the ability to score

Let’s just say they aren’t very motivated.

But make no mistake, the world is catching up with the US in basketball.

Just got off airline travel this wknd.

Everyone was masked on the airplane. You
WILL do this!

About 95% were masked in the airport.

I’m so totally done with this. They cannot be reasoned with.

It’s a cult.

French players dined on escargot, salade de concombre (Cucumber Salad) and strawberry crepes before each game.
Stayed in shape with Pilates.

Get woke. Go home.

Oh, but "home" is abhorrent to them. They can't even muster the pride to be representing their country. And their dismal performances reflect their non-patriotism. They are a bunch of s-birds. Let them go represent Cuba, China, or Outer Elbonia.
