What does the Afghanistan Crisis mean to YOUR LIFE?

What does the Afghanistan Crisis mean to YOUR LIFE?

The events of the last 72 hours have been breathtaking in their speed and their seriousness. The Taliban has seized power in Afghanistan, after America spent trillions of dollars and thousands of lives trying to install and keep a secular government in that landlocked, opium-producing country. In the rapid advance of the Taliban, ten thousand Americans and hundreds of thousands of Afghan civilian allies have been trapped in the country, with no chance of escape.

Women will be raped; men will be beheaded or tortured....unless we pay the Taliban billions in ransom. The President and his spokesperson, Jennifer Psaki, are nowhere to be found. Biden, as addled as he is with cognitive decline, released a pathetic picture of himself at Camp David, alone and looking dejected (while, by the way, blowing the cover of several CIA Department Heads on the panel of TV sets Biden was looking at), while Psaki has decided to take a week-long vacation starting on August 15th. Calls are going unanswered. Nobody is home at the White House. We have no leadership whatsoever.

What does this mean for YOU?

In the last 72 hours, the standing of America as a force to be feared has evaporated. Every tin-horn dictator, every evil actor, now knows that America is a paper tiger and is rudderless. Our leadership is incompetent and unresponsive to any real crisis. We are much more preoccupied that transexuals and perverts be revered and that those on the political right (you know, the EFFECTIVE people) are called 'domestic terrorists'.

I expect China to move on Taiwan. I expect Islamic terrorists to swarm across our unsecured southern border. I expect great international upheaval, similar to what occurred in the early days before World War II. We may, indeed, have another World War as the powers jockey to take the place of America and the global stabilization she provided.

As international upheaval inevitably happens, you can expect instability in the prices of commodities. Food, energy, products ... all these things will fluctuate wildly in price. An overheated stock market will tumble, costing people billions and trillions of dollars in losses. As terrorist events occur with more frequency and more deadliness, our government will clamp down more and more on personal liberties, perhaps outright ignoring the Constitutional freedoms we have been guaranteed. They have been encroaching on those liberties anyways, with terrorist events occurring more often, they will consider that justification for the outright trampling of our rights.

What does this mean for YOU?

It means rampant inflation and bare store shelves. It means unavailability of products, energy, food. It means domestic police-state tactics to deal with the increase in REAL terrorism, as opposed to the imagined terrorism of 1/6/2021. It means companies will collapse and jobs will evaporate. It means wealth you have laid up will be drained of value quickly.

It means uncertainty, unavailability, and unrest.

What can you do about all of this?

Draw closer to the Lord, and appreciate all you have right now. Prepping is okay, but what will it do but extend your survival for a few more months? The answer is to continue to go on, to go to work as if all is well, to be prudent with your finances to the best of your ability, to be prepared to learn new skills and embark on new careers, to be prepared to remake our country in a sane fashion after the 'woke' are demonstrated to have been utter fools.

The Gods of the Copybook Headings, a poem by Rudyard Kipling, warns us of the way that reality always asserts itself in the face of the insane imaginings of those who deny reality. I would say that America has reached a place of such a dearth of reality (57 genders? REALLY?) that when reality hits, it will be powerful and very painful.

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

Saying a prayer for your health.

I am inclined to believe that the Trump team has a “cure” for the vax - for those who took the jab and now regret it.

We all have to make decisions with the info available at the time. It sounds to me like you are doing exactly that. Making excellent decisions. When the “15 days” thing began, I stayed home. There was not enough info at that time for me to do otherwise. So my tactics/decisions also change when the available info changes.

God bless.

Interestingly, the idiots over at DU are seriously downplaying this whole situation.

They hope we can trust the Taliban.

For real one person made that comment.

Until the government starts importing “refugees” aka terrorists, to make terror attacks on the US.

You can neither eat nor shoot silver and gold.

It won’t buy what’s not there.

Invest in a place to grow your own food, learn to preserve it, and but ammo. Lots of it while we still can.

They've been doing it for years.

That mutant who shot up the nightclub in Orlando some years ago, for example, came here as a refugee with his parents when he was a kid.

I had a much healthier perspective on life once I realized I don't live in a real country. So I mind my own business and don't concern myself with anything outside my circle of family and friends and the place where I live.

They don’t even have to convert them. The first few thousand navy vehicles in the flotilla will be “civilians” who are “migrating” from one province in China to another province in China, and the US will not do a damned thing about it. If we fire on that civilian sampan navy, they’ll all have CNN uploads and the PR nightmare will be worse than 1975 Saigon/2021 Kabul.

What does the Afghanistan Crisis mean to YOUR LIFE?
***I have 2 black guys as room mates. One of them did 3 tours, two in Afghanistan. Today the crisis is how it affects my roommate’s PTSD and seein’ how rapidly screwed up this country has already gotten.

The other black dude roommate and I had a rather big blowout argument yesterday over, you guessed it, Afghanistan. I was saying we shoulda just gone in, wiped out the taleban [like we did, in about 8 weeks] then withdraw to my emBASEeee strategee. I’ll post it at the bottom of this missive.

I never got to say what my strategy was. The guy kept interrupting, talking over me, arguing against shiite I didn’t say, raising his voice, then using this thing as a pretext to say mean-spirited things to me, arguing like a woman. It was pure BLM bullshiite.

The guy is a mormon who criticizes ME for not having HIS opinion about how a COUNTRY should act when its innocent civilians are blown away in a terrorist attack killing 3000 people. We should seek to “understand” them, we should “find out where they’re hurting”. That kind of bullshiite. Arguing like a pure ditwad.

That’s what the Afghanistan Crisis meant to my life yesterday.

from my home page

I have been advocating for several years a policy I call ‘embaseees’. Embassy + AirBase —> EmBASEeees. We go into a terrorist country, clear out their taliban equivalent, then withdraw to very large Embassies, perhaps 3 of them. Have them big enough to encompass a military airbase where we can use it for decades on end to conduct anti-terrorism operations. As long as the ‘host’ country aint killing Americans then we let them have self-sovereignty. Kind of like how we operated in the Phillipines for decades. We could even have an intermediate zone that we patrol but it would be autonomous. Let them have their taste of freedom. A referendum every 10 years to see how large the boundaries of the intermediate autonomous zone should be.

The store shelves might be empty but there will always be illegal drugs to ease the hunger pains. The drug cartels will be in heaven. After all, that’s why we’ve been in Afghanistan all these years. The poppy fields are big money!

I had a much healthier perspective on life once I realized I don't live in a real country.

It may be healthier; it may not.

Your comment reminds me a little of my girlfriends comment: On a day when I attempted to engage her in a political discussion, she told me, "I'm not interested in politics."

I thought for a moment, then responded: "You may not be interested in politics, but make no mistake.... Politics is VERY interested in YOU."

Some more positive news, SNAP (food stamp) recipients will be able to get 25% more filet mignon and fresh lobster courtesy of the American taxpayer. (sigh)

I suspect they get most of their staples from food pantries.

I also suspect that some welfare woman moonlight as housekeepers for affluent women, do food shopping for their employers, pay for it with EBT, and pocket the cash.

The difference is that I do my best to prepare myself for the times when politics gets interested in me.

In the meantime, I use the knowledge I accumulate over time to earn a decent living. I try not to waste time on sh!t that I can't fix.

Ok, I think we align in thought and practice.

I've got a slightly more nuanced approach; I use my writing skills to warn, to educate, and to influence.

But in the meantime I make a living.
