NSBA's letter to the White House caused a political firestorm

FIRST ON FOX: Newly released emails shed light on the discontent within the National School Boards Association (NSBA) after its letter to the White House suggested that parents might be engaging in domestic terrorism.

Obtained by Parents Defending Education (PDE), the internal emails show multiple state-level officials expressing dismay over the now-infamous letter's content and the purported process for reviewing it.

"Clearly, this was orchestrated and the letter contrived for political theater," reads an email from Sally Smith, executive director for the Alabama Association of School Boards.

"If NSBA is going to be a shill for an administration (any administration) to the detriment of many of its members, what rational explanation is there for failure to involve the board in this decision?"

NSBA's letter, sent on Sept. 29, caused a media and political firestorm as it appeared to prompt the Justice Department's memo about a nationwide investigation into intimidation against school boards. Emails also confirm that the NSBA was in communication with the White House "for weeks" prior to DOJ's memo.

Steven Chapman, who serves on the Board of Directors for the Pacific Region, said on Oct. 2: "My hope for a letter like this, or any letter that we are going to send to the President of the United States and push through a press release is at least reviewed by the executive committee."

“Orchestrated and contrived for political theater”

Describes the entire “pandemic” farce.

If I self identify as a domestic terrorist, will Biden give me lots of state of the art military grade fully automatic weapons like he did the Taliban in Afghanistan?

Education appears to be a flash point issue.

Look at the election in Virginia for Governor. Look at the heavy handed threat by the FBI/Dept of Justice regarding school board meetings.

A couple days ago, the Seattle Times newspaper (fish wrapper) ran an article about how the Seattle School District decided to cancel schools today the day after Veterans Day because of the high number of staff requesting time off. Then some other school districts did the same thing. The fuse that caused the problem was both a statement from the Seattle School Board and from the Education Association. Both defended the decision to give staff a 4-day weekend that working parents needed to scramble to cover childcare.

The defense included: the teachers are tired and need the rest, there is a shortage of substitute teachers, they asked for the day off (and we didn't have the courage to say no), education is underfunded (yes, the union), understaffed due to Covid restrictions, etc.

In the comments to the article, people went ballistic.

Education is at a cross roads. Historically, there was a lot of support and sympathy for educators.

Politicians look for wedge issues to exploit during election campaigns. I foresee that education is going to quickly become a wedge issue.

You are correct. The tide turned in March 2020. That’s when every school in the US shut down, and parents eyes were opened to the fact that when the unions go around saying crap like “#ForTheKids” (as the teachers in my CA blue district used to say when it was time to negotiate their contracts), that they are lying. I always knew they were lying—but most parents believed and trusted their teachers and their school boards that they had the students’ interests at heart.

No more. Before I ultimately pulled both my teens out of public school last year (one to homeschooling, one to private), I attended NINE reopen schools rallies, two reopen sports rallies, and three signature gathering events to recall three school board trustees).

School board meetings are now fully attended by parents, and district decisions are now constantly challenged. This is in a blue CA district. Imagine how it is across the rest of the United States!

A sleeping giant has been awakened and parents are fighting for their kids (and other peoples’ kids) now. Students have lost the most during this pandemic. They are carrying the full burden for the old and obese which is unethical. They are masked when no one else is. They are being forced to vaccinate when (arguably) the vaccine is more dangerous for them than the virus, or at least equally dangerous. Their instructional minutes have been slashed, they’ve been moved to subpar “remote learning.” Their proms and graduations and sports have been cancelled. It’s horrific.

And teachers don’t give a crap—only parents do.

It’s about time. We have ceded the duty to educate our children to lunatic socialist propagandists for too long
