A significant severe weather outbreak, including the potential for nighttime tornadoes, is expected Friday night from parts of the lower and mid-Mississippi Valley into the Tennessee and lower Ohio valleys.
A potent upper-level disturbance punching out of the Rockies and into the Plains on Friday will enter the Mississippi Valley by Friday night. This will cause a surface low-pressure system to intensify as it tracks into the Great Lakes region overnight, pushing a strong cold front across the central U.S. from the Ohio Valley to East Texas.
Warm, humid air from the Gulf of Mexico will surge northward out ahead of this cold front, sending dew points into the 60s and lower 70s from the Gulf Coast to as far north as southern Illinois and southwestern Indiana.

One of my greatest fears: nighttime tornadoes.....................
Oddly warm here in Ohio today
I was working in the Ohio Valley a couple of years back.
I have never seen it rain so hard in my life.
Mine is sink-holes.
Mine is leftist collectivists controlling every aspect of our lives...oh wait...I’m living mine.
Same here in S. TN. Nighttime tornadoes are the worst! It’s supposed to storm here tomorrow.
Here in Minneapolis-St Paul, we’re under a winter storm warning until tomorrow morning.
The Twin Cities are looking at 8-10 inches of snow. Areas in southern Minnesota and western and central Wisconsin could get 12+ inches.
Yeah, what numbskull at Fox thought this was only something that happened with severe storms (ooo, climate change)?
I was born and raised in midwest. Night tornadoes are not unusual. Less noticed ‘cause yah can’t see them, perhaps. But, if you’ve ever been near one you can hear it coming.
When I was a child in North Mississippi, we had a ‘storm house’ in the back yard. A half buried structure in the ground that we would go to in severe weather, which was common. I hated to be woke up from a nice warm bed to head for the storm house in a cold rain and shiver for two hours........................
Tornadoes anytime are bad. I’ve been thru both day and night twisters, and it sucks.
80 yesterday 81 expected today here in Dallas, girlfriend turned the ac on last night.
yup, I listen to WBAP every day
Cue Bette Davis (playing Margo Channing) saying: “Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy night.”
We had a nighttime tornado in Chesterfield, Missouri when I was in high school in the late 60s. It flattened the subdivision south of us, skipped over us, and flattened the subdivision north of us. We were huddled in a corner in the basement. It was very scary expecting the house to get shredded at any moment.
Hate those. Can’t see what you’re dealing with.

BUT - they still show up on RADAR (sorta, kinda; at least we know where they are kinda sorta).
Living in Florida, I have been through six Hurricanes and numerous Tropical Storms, in daylight and night time. But tornadoes are my worst fear. I have seen one up close and personal in my neighborhood, in daylight. ...................
And first thought upon being awakened by the train noise is ‘When did they move the tracks so close to here?’
