A limited-edition Patek Philippe watch designed in conjunction with Tiffany’s sold for more than $6 million at auction Saturday.
Bidding was fast and furious for the Patek Philippe 5711 1A-018 timepiece at a live Phillips auction on Park Avenue.
The watch, which features a Tiffany & Co. signed dial, sold for $5,350,000, with the auction house premium taking the total price tag to $6,503,000. The winning bid was made by an unnamed New Yorker, who was bidding online, according to a report.

Just like all the junk I have collected over the years . . . you can’t take it with you.
Hopefully it tells the time accurately. The blue isn't the greatest IMO. Where's' the gold-trimmed round watch. Much nicer looking IMO.
Anything, watch or otherwise, is only worth what someone else is willing to pay.
This is why I don’t buy new cars. Instant depreciation after you buy shows it wasn’t worth what you paid in the first place.
Meet me in the parking lot of Sal's Junkyard at 12:30 Sunday morning, and I can get you one for only $55,000. Bring cash. Be alone.
“Even if I have that kind of money, I don’t think I’d spend it on a watch. What makes a watch worth that much in the first place?”
OP should read and comprehend articles posted.
Does it take a lickin’
And keep on tickin’?

The 2016 Mustang I bought new now retails for more than I paid for it!
I just bought an Apple watch knock off/fake on Amazon for $37. I’m a tight wad.
Most cars bought new in the mid-2010s are worthless than what people paid. Used car prices are up by 30-35% since last year.

Funny.
Someone was secretly watching at that place a long time ago when a jug eared black guy paid for a Kenyan birth certificate to become a Hawaiian one. Paid in cash.
how do you show off a watch, when 99%of the people you are trying to impress have no idea what it is, unless you leave the price-tag on it???

Yeah.
Let’s see how it keeps time after someone skydives into a moving convertible and the driver sends it over an embankment into a 20 foot deep river and has scuba divers pull it back up with the announcer. Still worth it?
“Most cars bought new in the mid-2010s are worthless than what people paid.”
Of course. Most are not in new condition!

Yeah, certainly not something to wear or need. But it’s not about the watch as a watch, it’s a collectible that is worth $6mm and is easily stored in a safety deposit box or small safe.
Think about how much room $6mm in silver takes up, how heavy it is, how hard it is to move, etc. What about a $6mm car collection? You need a warehouse.
Collectibles are rising in value due to Bidenflation.
At the pearly gates
God: Appypappy, what did you do with that $6M I gave you? help the poor? Build a school in Haiti?
Me: I bought this really nice...hey where did it go?
Just a guess but I think the metal is platinum. Prior to the auction some were guessing it might go in the 1 to 1.5 million range given the insane prices a very select few in demand watches are selling for. 6.5 is way beyond that but maybe some bidders got into auction frenzy and lost their minds. Of course being a watch nerd collector means that is a given.
” but maybe some bidders got into auction frenzy and lost their minds.”
It was a charity auction.
My mistake on further research the metal is stainless steel.
I once bought a knockoff Breitling from a guy at a flea market for $75. Made in China. Looked great. Wife and I went to a concert. I noticed that the lady next to me was wearing a lady’s version of the exact same, genuine Breitling. She said her m-i-l who was seated on the other side of her paid $3500+ for it. I said, “Yep. That’s about right.” I’m confident hers is still running. Mine the band broke and a hand came loose; and it’s in my nightstand drawer.
