Woke speech codes suffered a major setback when some Hispanic lawmakers and the country’s oldest Hispanic rights group put the kibosh on the use of the transgender-friendly term “Latinx.”
The rejection of the Latinx label even extended to prominent Democratic lawmakers.
“I’m Latina, you know. Latinx — that’s, bull——,” said Rep. Nydia M. Velazquez, a New York Democrat and the first Puerto Rican woman elected to the House.
The League of United Latin American Citizens, the oldest Hispanic civil rights group in the U.S., also kicked Latinx to the curb.
Domingo Garcia, the group’s president, told its communications team and board of directors last week to stop using the term in official communications. Mr. Garcia later described his ban as a death knell for Latinx.

I believe the left miscalculated with the Hispanics. Many of their cultures have been politically enslaved for a very long time. Their (legal) immigration to this country, while slightly left of center, isn’t likely going to allow the sins of their former homelands infect this one.
I hope I’m right.
Woke unisex language does not work well in Espanol. They’d have to gut the language.
IIRC my HS Spanish, there are only two genders in Spanish. Anything else is non sequitur.................
Spanish language has genders.
Humans have a sex, male or female.
I love it when the lefts hierarchy of grievance groups runs into conflicts with itself.
Hispanics vote for the party that gives them Other People’s Money.
We can hope that as they become those Other People, they might change their voting patterns.
It was a term invented by ivory tower academics and radical activists— both of whom are out of touch with the average Latino among whom it merely elicits eye-rolling and scorn.
Most of the Hispanics I've known have a great work ethic. Voting? I can't say, that's private.

yep, which is why I rejected African American and kept using Black which was always fine.

Unfortunately, the millions and millions of illegals know how to work the system. Work a job with one fake ID while collecting government benefits with another. When caught doing a crime, just discard one ID and use another.
There is also the problem of recent immigrants being successfully propagandized into equating Republicans with the despots they left behind.

From my understanding (this topic came up with our 20 year olds), the hispanic language is sexist. Why? Words are “masculine” or “feminine”. For example, the color red is rojo but can be raja if it involved a female (like a woman in a red car... the red would be female). Thus, LatinX is not “latino” or “latina” and is “gender neutral”. FWIW, my two oldest thinks this is beyond stupid. :)
