Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) called Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) Monday morning to explain himself to the Congressional Progressive Caucus chair, and Jayapal said she gave him an earful. (snip) “And obviously yesterday, the senator took the latter path and went back on this word. That lack of integrity is stunning in a town where people say the only thing that you have is your word.” Jayapal went on to say that she said as much to Manchin when he called her on Monday. “There is nothing I have said here that I didn’t say to him,” Jayapal said.

I read that President Johnson *spit* regularly called friends and enemies alike just to chat. He had notes on what they’d talked about before, their kids, wives, common interests and activities. Johson got whatever he wanted. When he wanted a war in Vietnam he called in the top Republican and said, “What do you want?” Without a word the Republican pulled out a list and handed it to him. He looked at it for a minute and said, “You’ve got it.” And, that was that.
My guess is that those were comparatively, less contentious times. Also, I suspect that the two parties were not as idealistically opposed to each other. I don’t know if Manchin is an honest man who has ethics, or if this is a political ploy lining himself up as the next Democratic presidential candidate. But the days when you could sit next to a “liberal” and not worry about poison in your drink are over.
Jaypal is another uppity foreign female. The hell with her. Also she’s a damned communist...literally.
And why did Manchin simp out and grovel to a foreign communist radical?
He is, but they must dig it. He has a 61% approval rating in West Virginia, not too shabby for a democrat in a state that went 70% for Trump. I’m betting that goes up after the last couple of days.

Oh my gosh, I can see her now on the other end of that call.......her eyes bulging out of her head like she did with someone (forgot the name) when he wouldn’t yield to her demands to shut up.....not until he finished. It was a beautiful thing to see until they zoomed in on her face. Lawd!

A Maserati SUV. Who would buy an SUV made by Maserati. There is a book out (heard it today with Schweizer and Eggers sitting in for Hannity— about the Maserati dealership in DC. Where they don’t make enough money for Maserati, because— get this- they don’t have many cars sold on a payment plan. Everyone pays cash in full!!). Manchin is an odd duck. During the Massey Coal issue in WV, Manchin was photo’d with his wife touring Italy— whenever that was. Incidentally there are a lot of Italian American descendants of the coal miners who came to work in WV mines. The country artist Kathy Mattea is from one of these families, who mined coal.
It’s coal country politics, Gen.— the real issue for the grinding poverty which Obama created by driving coal operators to slow down, by forcing coal utilities to convert to NG (seriously stupid a@@ thing to do for “clean air, climate change,etc.)
The Bullcrap built Broker bill is essentially a Climate Change ripoff of energy companies. And uh— who owns the mineral rights under WV? Why it is the Rockefellers- and they call the tune and have for decades in WV. Individual Rockefellers lean Socialist cause they like to feel good about themselves and their pals in Europe/Soros etc. But corporate wise—they ain’t buying the climate crap, unless it is something THEY generate and they can control... like... the price of coal, or oil. In truth the rising price of crude benefits all oil producers, as foolish as they are to tolerate letting OPEC set the rates, when they used to set them themselves as US exporters!
