“Welcome to the world. People are garbage.” ~Tony Soprano Today, we take for granted premium cable channels and streaming services creating their own content. In the late 1990’s, this was a brand new concept, one that many people in the film and television industry had little or no faith in. HBO took a big gamble with The Sopranos — and they hit the jackpot.
The show was a resounding critical success and connected deeply with viewers. It garnered and audience of around 11 million viewers an episode, including most viewers for a season premier with 22.6 Million in 2001[1]. What’s more, the show is seeing a resurgence and garnering a new generation of fans. The show’s creator, David Chase, attributes this to the prequel movie, The Many Saints of Newark, as well as views stuck in quarantine discovering the show via HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max[2].

Look no further than the woke sopranos prequel they released this year. What a piece of garbage. That’s all that they are capable of making now, since they are trapped in their own progressive bubble.
The article itself may get banned.
;-)
“Deadwood” is very, very unwoke. Opens with bad language and violence. Never let’s up. Don’t eat any pork products.
Childish article. This is what they do all day, write analyses of why old shows and movies wouldn’t hold up in today’s “woke” culture.
The mafiosos in the Sopranos are immoral killers. I don’t need to read a lengthy article to tell me the characters beat and kill women, and are racist. Duh.
Actually, evil as he is, Tony also does things to protect gays, women and minorities. The show consists of villains who do bad things, and innocent victims. It’s a CRIME show.
He’s complaining that Dr Melfi gets raped in the show. It was portrayed as a horrible experience. This moron should stick with the Hallmark Channel.
Let’s not even discuss Paulie murdering his mother’s elderly friend while robbing her apartment. They’re killers duh.
Today they’d put Vito in charge of a family.
The best part is that ALL the fbi snitches died.
Ditto for Seinfeld
read the article, he’s on your side.
It’s a sad day when I’m not sure that I’d trust the mob more than the FBI, but I wouldn’t trust the FBI more than the mob.
The Sopranos was getting “woke” toward the end. They had one of the “Captains” become gay and we were supposed to feel sad about the homophobia he was experiencing at the hands of other mobsters.
I had to look closer to see if Zuckerberg was the one on the right...(Only watched a few episodes on my neighbor’s cable TV).
Hallmark Channel: For those who would like to watch porn without the sex scenes.
“HBO Wouldn’t Dare Make ‘The Sopranos’ Today”
I would with a vengeance if I had the wherewithal.
Never mind the Sopranos, imagine a show like Married With Children - LOL!
The Neo Puritan Wokesters are too stupid to see that the show and many others are not praising such behavior, they’re condemning it. Look who is racist, who does treat women terribly, etc etc. Mobsters. These are not role models. These are not people to emulate. They are exactly what you’d expect from hardened criminals. You expect enlightened attitudes and behavior from Tony Soprano, Paulie Walnuts, etc etc? Get a clue.
If Zukerberg was a mafia guy, he’d be known as “J Suckaweeney” from the Brunkz.
He’s not on my side, he’s reaching to write an article about how un-woke The Sopranos was. I don’t even agree with his premise.
HBO not only would make the Sopranos today, it has made countless shows since which are wildly politically incorrect.
Just a few examples would be VEEP, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Game Of Thrones.
Violence, abuse of women as sex objects, liberal characters, minorities and gays mocked and cast in a negative light. They do it all the time.
