Archie Bunker said “terlet”. I was born a sodbuster from rural York County, Pennsyltucky, but somehow wound up an IBM Customer Engineer (Mechanic) in the Big Apple. Lived in Jackson Heights and commuted to Lower Manhattan to work. In the early 60s. The place I kept my tool kit, at 330 Church Street was leveled to make way for the two World Trade Towers. I heard all kinds of accents up there. I still have fond memories.

Queens and Brooklyn have similar accents, though Brooklyn's tends to be more pronounced. With the oi/er business, I think the early Dutch settlers may have had something to do with it.
