What gets me is that this guy has been in D.C. for 50 years, and he still has the Brooklyn Italian accent. I want to hear how he says “toilet”.
Funny...old Brooklynites would say earl for oil but turn around and say thoid for third. I was a Gramercy Park kid so my accent while noticeable never approached my father in law’s.
Archie Bunker said “terlet”. I was born a sodbuster from rural York County, Pennsyltucky, but somehow wound up an IBM Customer Engineer (Mechanic) in the Big Apple. Lived in Jackson Heights and commuted to Lower Manhattan to work. In the early 60s. The place I kept my tool kit, at 330 Church Street was leveled to make way for the two World Trade Towers. I heard all kinds of accents up there. I still have fond memories.
