Democrats quietly explore barring Trump from office over Jan. 6
The Hill ^ | 01/06/22 001 AM EST | BY JOHN KRUZEL -

In the year since the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a handful of Democrats, constitutional scholars and pro-democracy advocates have been quietly exploring how a post-Civil War amendment to the Constitution might be used to disqualify former President Trump from holding office again.

Calls for Congress to take steps to strip Trump of his eligibility, which reached a crescendo in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 riot, have since decreased. But those who remain engaged on the issue say discussions about applying Section 3 of the 14th Amendment have been ongoing.

“If anything, the idea has waxed and waned,” said Laurence Tribe, a constitutional expert at Harvard Law School. “I hear it being raised with considerable frequency these days both by media commentators and by members of Congress and their staffs, some of whom have sought my advice on how to implement Section 3.”

An analysis by The Hill found that around a dozen Democratic lawmakers have spoken either publicly or privately over the last year about how Section 3 of the 14th Amendment might apply to those who engaged in insurrection on Jan. 6.

Among those whose offices have spoken recently with Tribe are Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), who sits on the Jan. 6 House Select Committee; Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), who chairs the powerful House Judiciary Committee; and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.).

“I continue to explore all legal paths to ensure that the people who tried to subvert our democracy are not in charge of it,” Wasserman Schultz told The Hill.

The ruthlessness with which they have responded is a measure of the depth of their corruption.

Of course they are. The dems are calling it an “insurrection” so they can eliminate repubs from office. Here is the text of the 14th ammendment. THIS is why they are using that language.

Fourteenth Amendment
Section 3
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Perpetual target? Trump as King?

Did you at least ask for your favorite flavor when you were given the Kool-Aid?

You mean DeSantis, or whoever, will sail into office and not ever be a target of the deep state?

Or, the only thing the deep state has to do with snowflakes like you is to criticize their candidate and they will abandon him like rats on a sinking ship?

They fear Trump and with good reason.
So far everything the RATs and Media have done to separate Trump
and his voters have failed.
This will fail too.

What about Al Gore? He refused to concede for weeks in an election where he was more obviously the loser than Trump. Trump won a bunch of states that Gore got blown out in.

And as much as we criticize W, lest ye forget...

They hate anyone who they see as blocking their path to absolute power, their stances on issues isn't what matters. Nixon was as liberal as they come, didn't matter to them.

This has been the intent all along. Two impeachments, Plots against a sitting President, betrayals, etc. have all been part and parcel of our “representatives “ in Congress to subvert the will of the people.

Will they succeed? Only if we let them.

For those of us with a public education, here's Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. It was intended to be used to prohibit Southern politicians and officers who took part in the Confederacy from being elected to Federal Office.
