The House committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol sought to dismiss a right-wing conspiracy theory by announcing Tuesday that Ray Epps, who was seen trying to egg on protesters ahead of the Jan. 6 riot, told committee members in an interview that he was not a federal agent.
The panel also subpoenaed a trio of Trump allies as it continues its months long investigation into the origins of the attack.

Does this mean everyone who is locked up for Jan 6, and says they aren’t working for the FBI, will now be released?
Issue all you want. The committee was not lawfully formed and therefore has no authority.
I am so relieved that Epps told the committee that he was not a Fed. That really clears that whole theory up. It is now debunked.

There are too many unanswered questions. I am not buying this explanation. Rep. Kinzinger thanked Ray Epps: the same dude who was imploring people to enter the Capitol!

Yeah, federal informants are often not also federal agents...its the old cover your butt deception crap.. you change one detail so you can deny a true story without technically saying something false.
He needs to prove he is not a Fed. If he was not a Fed, why would Rep. Kinzinger thank him? He was trying to convince citizens to storm Kinzinger’s work space.
What garbage. So why isn’t he indicted, then, with the rest of them?
And any information contrary to that debunking is henceforth called “misinformation” and to be laughed at and denigrated.
I do not care if he is Fed or not. I’ve seen his egregious behavior plainly like everyone else.
His behavior was egregious. Was he connected with others? Or, just a coward trying to encourage others to do what he would not do.
Swell. Did they ask him if he was a federal informant, by any chance? Because that's not the same thing as being an agent. (And the denial of one has no bearing on being the other.)
He is somebody special because he has not been charged. That says it all.
