Credibility of EC.....

Right.

Long ago he was in big trouble for not being woke. Claimed that overrun by foreign illegals was going to destroy the good elements of England. Supported right wingers. Called for the deportation of non-whites as a remedy. Was booed off the stage.

From Snopes website:
a transcript of remarks by Clapton, excerpted below. (The quotations widely attributed to Clapton contain racial slurs that some readers might find particularly offensive):

Do we have any foreigners in the audience tonight? If so, please put up your hands… So where are you? Well wherever you all are, I think you should all just leave. Not just leave the hall, leave our country … I don’t want you here, in the room or in my country. Listen to me, man! I think we should send them all back. Stop Britain from becoming a black colony. Get the foreigners out. Get the wogs out. Get the coons out. Keep Britain white …

Over the years, several purported transcripts have emerged, with various differences and points of commonality. It appears no recording of Clapton’s racist rant exists, so its exact wording is open to dispute, and we can’t verify the verbatim accuracy of any given set of direct quotations.

However, the accounts of several eyewitness observers, as well as a contemporaneous magazine review of the concert, corroborate the fact that Clapton used several odious racial slurs, said foreigners and Black people should be removed from Britain, and expressed support for Enoch Powell, an infamous Conservative politician who was the leading proponent of anti-immigration and racially discriminatory policies in Britain during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Over the years, Clapton has effectively confirmed the authenticity of the remarks attributed to him, and belatedly distanced himself from them....

/////////////////////////////
Recently....In late 2020, music legends Van Morrison and Eric Clapton announced they had collaborated on a new a single, to be released on Dec. 4. They announced the profits were going to Morrison’s Lockdown Financial Hardship Fund, a philanthropic project to support musicians whose livelihoods have been harmed by a series of lockdowns in the U.K., designed to combat the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

In September, Morrison caused controversy by releasing three songs whose lyrics condemned government officials as “fascist bullies,” and claimed restrictions on travel, socializing, and commercial activity were designed to “enslave” the public.

If u get a chance just go,,,, I saw him 2 months ago and have seen him many times, his voice is better than ever, really strong and he and the band are loving being back on the road...his 2nd encore, that’s right 2nd, was a 15 minute version of Gloria!!!!!!

He has had over a year off, so his voice is really well rested.

He has admitted them and it was when he was off his head on drugs and booze...he has eventually kicked all those bad habits.

Plus just listen to any number of black artists who have played with him, they all love him for what he has done for the blues.....u’d be hard pressed to find a better bloke..

I just told my wife to keep an eye out, and that I’m pretty price-insensitive.

I saw him about 15 years ago at Chastain Amphitheater, he was awesome then. I think the dinner party aspect of the venue (think high end picnic baskets and wine on tables) made him more relaxed than he normally is performing live, which was a good thing.

Even after as long as he’s been around EC says today even his fellow musicians are avoiding him.

I was able to go to a Crossroads concert years ago. He threw a pick into the audience, my then girlfriend, now my wife, caught it. After the show he initialed it EC on both sides for her. We still have it. I don’t worship him, but I sure as heck admire the talent of ole Slow Hand.

True he has honored Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, , BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, Hubert Sumlin, Buddy Guy and many other black artists and personally paid for Howlin’ Wolf’s funeral and headstone.

He saw to it a distant and possibly not genuine relative of Johnson got royalties while the Rolling Stones fought it in court. Gave credit to artists of original songs while Led Zeppelin and Stones refused (until Willie Dixon won a big lawsuit for one case).

Muddy Waters in particular told him he is going to depend on Clapton’s promise to keep the blues alive “Because all of us old timers are dying off, one by one and we’ll be gone.”

He kept the blues alive with Crossroads while a tiny percentage of younger black people cared at all. Most refuse to acknowledge their blues heritage.

By Crossroads I mean the annual big concert festival of old and young blues artists on DVD and CD and streaming for a decade or more.

Perhaps Bill Maher is more correct in calling it a “lifestyle” thing, obesity and other issues linked to its seriousness.

Enoch Powell was right!

I shouldn't agree with you except for the fact you're right. That makes a difference.

I'll save room for you on the wooden bench in the waiting room outside the principal's office.

Some people just took the stupid vaccine to keep their job and provide for themselves and their family.

Criminal trials need to happen against those who forced people to make such a choice.

I took the stupid vaccine years and years ago! And see? Now I am not stupid!

All joking aside, keep in mind at all times the #CrimeAgainstHumanity aspect of this thing. You are right: Justice needs to happen. But Justice requires patience.

I was a kid still when I saw EC. He was in a show with Carlos Santana in Denver. (1973? I had the ticket stub for a long time but finally lost it.) I was a fan of his then because GEORGE HARRISON.

His contribution to the blues art form cannot be denied. (That being said, that scarcely makes him a good candidate for medical advice-giver.) Keep in mind he’s a junkie (no matter how many years he’s been clean). It’s a low, low lifestyle. But, haha, that doesn’t disqualify him from being a blues musick legend. (Robt Johnson died at age 21-22 from high living and being a skank.)

Someone else on this forum said “You can’t get unvaccinated.” Sorry he had to learn the hard way not to trust the Medical Gestapo.

I can’t render judgment on “healthy lifestyle.” (And at least I have the sense and honesty to admit it!) I have known a lot of doctors, however. I try to pass on whatever I have seen them do that seems to work.
