"But Coonman gave me a job!"
Cry more lib.
Nobody gives a crap about slavery. Ancient history. Blacks need to give it up. Nobody alive owned a slave and nobody alive was a slave.
Friggen crybabies.
BUMP!
Perhaps an exhibit telling of the coastal raids by African countries to liberate their people from slavery.
Hey, she's got a book to sell.
There is ongoing slavery, to this day, in northern Africa, but I don’t think they’re crying about that, or even give a damn.
My mother born 1915 had her father die 1918 Spanish Flu, grandma took in laundry and later a job in a convenience store. Family was dirt poor and no indoor plumbing. Mom left school in the 7th grade at age 13 and worked her whole life. Mom worked for at least 15 years as a maid in a hospital cleaning floors and public toilets.
I hate that the NPR assumption is that White people never struggled and we all should feel guilty and need to, make things right, because we had it so easy. BTW dad was the educated person in the family he graduated from grammar school.
Important correction to my stories on Exec. Mansion: Youngkin's team says he hasn't converted an educational space -> family room, and I've verified that. Frustrating to learn this 2+ weeks after I emailed them about it, but I also should’ve dug more.https://t.co/Fyei7OCgvX— Ben Paviour (@BPaves) February 6, 2022
I like historic stories and like going to Montecello, seeing the slaves’ lives is a good thing to know about. Too bad 100% of these are to pile onto white guilt. It’s fascinating to the the Louisiana Purchase juxtaposed against how people milled grain and carried water from the spring to the main house.
Maybe it’s time to watch Spartacus again. 🤣
Right you are, Drew68!
Deemphasize the “enslaved” folks, they are all dead as are the enslavers.
Keeping the focus on long ago sins is never going to lift the present day black’s status. It will cause a backlash, (poor choice of a word) that will tend to not help them.
Does Fanto discuss how Jeff Davis and wife Varina adopted a friendless black child at the height of the WBTS and befell this child when Davis and his wife were captured.

But what does she “identify as” ?
That’s the important part.
They absolutely don’t care.
No, nor do they care. In their eyes, the kid deserved it.
Sounds like both of our families benefitted from our white privilege.
Deetz has done similar work at Stratford Hall, Robert E. Lee’s former plantation house, where she was hired after the 2017 white nationalist attacks in Charlottesville
