California bill would allow citizens to enforce weapons ban

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A new bill in California would allow private citizens go after gun makers in the same way Texas lets them target abortion providers, though gun advocates immediately promised a court challenge if it becomes law.

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday backed legislation that would let private citizens enforce the state’s ban on assault weapons. It’s modeled after a Texas law that lets private citizens enforce that state’s ban on abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected.

Newsom said he hopes the proposal forces the U.S. Supreme Court’s hand on the Texas abortion law. He said it will either expose their “hypocrisy” if they should block California’s proposal that affects the gun industry and not the Texas law on abortion.

“Or it’ll get them to reconsider the absurdity of their previous decision,” Newsom said, adding: “There is no principled way the U.S. Supreme Court cannot uphold this California law. None. Period full stop. It is quite literally modeled after the law they just upheld in Texas.”

The Firearms Policy Coalition, an advocacy group, pledged a court challenge should the California bill become law.

The proposed firearm restrictions are “really just modern-day Jim Crow laws designed to suppress the exercise of human rights the tyrants who run California don’t like,” the group said, promising to “litigate wherever needed to protect the rights and property of peaceable gun owners in California.”

Manufacturers should refrain from selling arms in the state, even to law enforcement.

One law bans something never listed, mentioned, or intoned in the constitution, the other would infringe on an amendment of the constitution which literally states it can not be infringed.

Lieberals are willfully flaunt the law with mockery and contempt every chance they get. They know full well these differences and I have little doubt the laugh about it behind closed doors.

Supported by the slow witted dope who won’t even quote his SAT scores because they were so bad, and excuses his lousy scholastic record by saying he was “dyslexic”, the standard rap of every malingerer.

That was my thought. Don’t sell firearms in California, avoid lawsuits designed to disarm everyone in the state as that’s their ultimate goal in CA and other leftist run states.

It is almost phrased like a 5th grader saying: You wouldn’t let me ride your new bike so now you can’t try my new skateboard.

CA versus TX.

All of our neighbors have multiple guns, and gun safes, and 97% of us moved here to Texas from California. What are we supposed to protect ourselves with? Creme Brule’ torches?
Sheesh!

Had a neighbor in Lake Jackson Texas who disapproved of guns. Several prisoners escaped from a local prison farm. I said I am fine, I have a gun. She hated guns and always talked bad about guns. She said, in this case, with prisoners on the run, she would just come and stay at MY house, where my guns keep us safe, until the prisoners are caught. I said, No you will NOT! Get your own guns!
Enough said...

“It is almost phrased like a 5th grader saying: You wouldn’t let me ride your new bike so now you can’t try my new skateboard.”

I think you’ve nailed an important point. There’s an almost childish element of, “Ha, ha. They did the Texas law now we’ll do the same to them!” Except they aren’t the same and any lawyer should know that. I think they do know that, but the Left uses lawfare, forcing people and corporations to spend huge amounts of time and money constantly defending themselves with little or no time and money involved in the attacks. (In a case against my HOA my lawyer kept giving the HOA things to respond to until they ran out of money and settled.) Another issue is Newsom is feeding red meat to his base with constant attacks against conservatives. It generates funds and keeps an important, vocal and rich base engaged. This is similar to dealing with my sister, who, no matter the issue would go nuclear until she got her way. Nobody, especially our parents, wanted to deal with it so she simply got her way. Mental illness is hugely consuming to live around and deal with. Lawfare is people who are mentally ill forcing you to deal with things they manipulate at no cost to themselves.

Let’s see, 1 is in the Constitution; and the other is murdering a child in the womb.
Of course the evil pinkos would equate the 2. 😡

Read a story where a guy used a .45 to put a hole in a fender (had no drill handy) - didn’t work out so well.
