Get ready for ‘hell,’ UN food chief warns amid Ukraine shockwaves

“We’re billions short," he said. "Failure to provide this year a few extra billion dollars means you’re going to have famine, destabilization and mass migration.”

Beasley's intervention will sharpen minds as EU governments draw up plans to address the food crisis resulting from the war, with a proposal expected as early as Wednesday.

Russia and Ukraine are among the world’s biggest producers and exporters of grain. The disruption caused by the war has a direct impact on countries that rely on these supplies in the Middle East and Africa.

Half of Africa's wheat imports come from Ukraine and Russia, which is also a major fertilizer exporter. As for Ukraine, its exports have ground to a halt and its capacity to keep growing food this year is hanging by a thread. The crunch point will come in the fall, Beasley said, when the full impact of the war’s disruption is likely to be felt. “If you think we’ve got hell on earth now, you just get ready,” Beasley warned. "If we neglect northern Africa, northern Africa’s coming to Europe. If we neglect the Middle East, [the] Middle East is coming to Europe."

The economic conditions facing these parts of the world are now worse than they were in the run-up to the Arab Spring, he said. And it's not just the populations of Middle Eastern and North African countries who will feel the squeeze.

The WFP is already feeding millions of people further south in Sahel countries like Niger and Burkina Faso, where problems will worsen if global food prices stay sky high. “I’ve been warning our developed nations for several years now that the Sahel is going to collapse if we’re not careful,” he said.

Oh yes, fertilizer, I nearly forgot. We have to use fertilizer on our lawns to keep them green, not our food-producing fields. You have to keep the neighborhood association happy.

If the sitting POTUS tells you Real Food Shortages are coming, I wouldn’t gloss it over.

Goal? Objective? Catastrophe?

Well, maybe this is the problem with the food for oil blah blah charity programs. These people could be growing their own food, having their own industries. But then do-gooders would have nothing to feel good about.

Mess with the economy, the economy messes with you.

However, I will add, if you look to grain markets during WWI, grain farmers in nations not directly in the path of war made a killing. Egyptian cotton? It became a world commodity when the civil war took place. The English needed to get it from somewhere other than the southern states. Seems like a unique investment opportunity if the libtards around the world would get out of the way.

Most of these African countries had plenty of food when they were British or French colonies. Lack of food is a government thing.

Lots of good info and I believe the articles are searchable. JW, Rawles wrote the novel “Patriots” and its’ sequels. And runs a pricy online store for antique weapons.

Part of me also wonders if this is just a scam for world leaders to take control of the food supply and remake it in the image of the green new deal/great reset .

Buy a book on farming. Till up your back yard. Go to the barn and get manure. Wait for weeds to grow and spray them with weed killer. Till it up again. Plant, hoe often. When the food matures. Can it, freeze it, and otherwise store it. Taa Daa! Food you got from fallow ground. See any problems here?

Wheat is a commodity. It will go for the most part to whoever will pay the highest price. Sadly its the first world green lunatic assault on the fossil fuel industry that is making natural gas, the core ingredient of fertilizer, scarce and expensive. Farmers around the world cannot obtain or afford fertilizer. Diesel fuel is also too expensive or not available. World crop yields, even if growing conditions are good, will be way down. The coming famines, starvation and hunger wars will be the result of green lunacy. Of course the privlidged first world lunatics who imposed this catastrophe, will not suffer as much as the newly poor and are unlikely to know real hunger. Yet it is them who should be held accountable and be made to pay the price for their lunacy.

And all they do IS ‘talk’. I can’t recall the UN doing much at all that’s worthwhile or ever really solved anything.
