President Joe Biden asked India's Narendra Modi on Monday not to accelerate the buying of Russian oil as the U.S. and other nations try to cut off Moscow's energy income following the invasion of Ukraine. The Indian prime minister made no public commitment to refrain from Russian oil, a source of tension with the U.S.
Meeting by video call, Biden told Modi that the U.S. could help India diversify its sources of energy, according to press secretary Jen Psaki. Even though India receives little of its oil from Russia, it stepped up recently with a major purchase as other democracies are trying to isolate Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The president also made clear that he doesn’t believe it’s in India’s interest to accelerate or increase imports of Russian energy or other commodities,” Psaki said.

Actually the most amusing part of that is India’s sophisticated space program and the UK having India as a foreign aid recipient from Her Majesty’s annual budget.

The Indians present in the US transfer an enormous amount of income to India. If the US put the brakes on that, as well as Indian firms doing business in India and investment from the US, it would cause some serious pain.
By the way, India is not Mexico, which is what you seem to think.
There are lots of brains without capital in Zimbabwe. No market, no capital means you can think up the most beautiful algorithms in the world but can’t do squat. Let them go back to India and fight for jobs there.
This is a very strange assertion. Perhaps you read Chinese state propaganda. (not being sarcastic or dis-respectful in any way)
India refuses to talk to China about anything except Chinese violations of the Border treaties. India has now realised that any treaty with China will exist only till the Chinese need it. Then it will be violated. There will ne no mutual agreements any more.
India needs Russia only to counter China. Thanks to Nixon, India became dependent on Russki weapons. Also important to India is the Russian Veto in the UNSC, which has shielded India from both Chinese and American resolutions. France also shields India but that one is at risk every general election.
Actually India refused the aid, but was gently reminded that the limousine liberals at OXFAM had Her Majestys patronage and it was impotant that such limousine libs were not given cause to complain. I believe total UK aid to India is 65m GBP. It is not welcome as such because our own limo libs, referred to locally as 5-star activists, join forces with these busybodies to hurt India.
I suppose that is not surprising.
