For the most part Russian exports to Europe are easily substitutable on the world market.

The only big sticking point is natural gas, because the Euros and Russia built a pipeline network to get Russian natural gas to Europe. That was a very foolish thing because it tied much of European energy to a single, politically questionable source. Various US administrations warned about this, going back four decades. Now the chickens have come home to roost.

The silver lining is that most of that nat gas is used for electric power generation, and there are many ways to generate electricity, much of which the Euros can expand fairly quickly.

Some commentary here is hysterical.

Yep. Energy for example....build nuclear power plants which they have the technology to do or go back to mining coal which they have. They CAN solve this problem. They just have to overcome their own envirosocialists in order to do so. Gaia worship is a luxury they can no longer afford.

On a side note, if the US could overcome its own Gaia worship, it could be the source of at least some of the oil and gas that Europe will need. It would also be highly beneficial to the US economy to do so while simultaneously strengthening its allies. We need to start beating the drum that opposition to oil and gas and nuclear power here at home plays right into Putin’s hands. Therefore opponents of it must be Putin stooges.*

*hey, it works for Lefties. We might as well use the same tactic on them.

That would be fine if there wasn’t a worldwide shortage to start with.

“fairly quickly”

Imagine the US trying to wean itself off natural gas.

I don’t think John Kerry would think it could be done by December 2022.

We can’t say 2030 is impractical and then say 2023 is practical.

The eurofools chose this path. Europe has massive coal reserves. Germany build the largest machines on earth to mine it. BUT, they chose their obedience to the green gods, Vestas, GE, and Siemens, Bosch and all the other green scoundrels. Germany is the stupidest of the bunch. They voted for that stasi c)(t Merkel who destroyed Germany’s future, and will drag the rest of Europe down with it. The former Soviet pac nations are the future of Europe.
