Trump endorsement of Mastriano leaves Pennsylvania Republicans furious
Washington Examiner ^ | Salena Zito

MECHANICSBURG, PA— In picking a sure thing by endorsing state Sen. Doug Mastriano for governor in PA, former President Donald Trump has set off a chain of events that could cost Republicans the governor's office and ensure him a tough race in PA if he chooses to run for president.

Allegheny County Republican Party Chairman Sam DeMarco was stunned when the news hit social media: “I am very disappointed with the president's decision in picking Mastriano. It's not exactly going out on a limb supporting someone in the lead three days before the election; it does guarantee him one win in this state on Tuesday,” said DeMarco in an interview with the Washington Examiner.

Jackie Kulback, the head of the Cambria County Republican Party, a grassroots powerhouse who just recently took this post-industrial county from a Democratic-majority county to a Republican one, was furious at Trump’s decision to back Mastriano.

The president's endorsement of Mehmet Oz was very hard to understand to begin with; now we have a three-way, a very tight three-way race for the critical Pennsylvania Senate seat, and to most of us, it appears that Oz is beginning to fade. So, what does the president do? He's going to shore that up somehow and endorse a sure thing — it is very disappointing,” said Dave Ball.

Kulback said Trump’s interference in PA would be costly: “It will cost a very winnable governor's seat. Dave White or Lou Barletta could have easily beat Shapiro in the fall in a very good year for Republicans.”

I guess these republican scum are saying they will not help the nominee to win in November?

I like Mastriano but I like Barletta also I have seen both on Bannon’s show several times!! Mastriano has been leading the fight to get the election of 2020 investigated and he solidly believes it was stolen!! Barletta has not been out front on this issue the same way Mastriano has!!

This guy thinks because Trump said it, everyone will do it. Trumpeters are very independent minded and educated on the candidates. Endorsements only mean something to people keeping score on Trump's picks.

Mastriano is clearly MAGA. I wish we could clone him for the PA senate seat. “Furious” Republicans have some explaining to do.

They apparently believe the fairy tale that if one of their favored guys were to win the primary, the thieving ‘rat bastards in Filthadelphia and Fixburgh would be nice and play fair/legal this time.

Some would call that way beyond naive.

What a stupid f'ing article. Pop Salena Zit-o.

This isn't news -- Trump supported Mastriano in the special election, and Mastriano was at J6.

FUSZ. * pop *

I have Lou’s sign in my yard. He’s the most qualified to be governor.

The PA GOP establishment didn’t do squat about the 2020 election fraud either before or after the election. Convince me I am wrong.

Yes, the GOP establishment did nothing to stop the Big Steal of 2020. They can get as furious as they want that they are being replaced. 'Eff 'em!

“ Read the story and the comments again and still don’t understand how they can be furious that he is endorsing the front runner who was likely to win anyway?”

Without reading I’d say they object to anyone who even talks about how the 2020 election was stolen, much less being all over it like Mastroianni is.

They Assisted the Democrats by not pushing back.

LOLOL!!

Kulback was able to "take Cambria from a Democratic-majority county to a Republican one" for two reasons:

1. Cambria is not even in the top 25 Pennsylvania counties in population [it's number 26].

2. Cambria is outside the drive radius of the Democrat vote fraud command and control center in Pittsburgh.

The national Democrat vote fraud machine didn't waste its time in Cambria County.

You GO, Jackie Kulback! What an accomplishment!!

I totally agree. Mastriano is naive, IMO.

It’s worse than that.
The Republican majority legislature unconstitutionally passed Act 77, universal mail in voting, which ensured massive voter fraud.
And they didn’t do it because of the CCP Flu.
They did it months before the virus was on the radar.

They suppressed any attempt at audits including the one in Fulton county. They pretty much told Frank Ryan to stop announcing his reviews of the SURE system audits. Corman fired Mastriano’s staff and deleted his email accounts at the Senate. Corman and Dush continue to suppress any attempt at an audit via the so called subpoena. Doing the job Democrats don’t need to do.

"Lou was the first in the House to endorse Trump and this is how he’s rewarded!"

Fair comment but Trump put Lou up front repeatedly at Pennsyltucky rallies, and Lou droned on and on, and The Don got that look on his face every time.

Face it -- Lou is like midget-height and the only short people in Trump's circle are women. Lou is more than ok but he's one of those guys you just know his glass ceiling is a Mayor who made the jump to Congressman. It is what it is.

I think Trump’s radar is on America First and generally I trust his judgement. Few know about all these candidates but thankfully I think Trump has the time, money, inclination, and insight for these recommendations. I wish it would go on indefinitely.

Trump endorsement of Mastriano leaves Pennsylvania Republicans furious

I believe Trump endorsed Mastriano for the sole purpose of making PA Republicans furious.

The state GOP is run by corrupt, inept fools.

Mastriano will be lucky to get 40% of the vote in November. Trump can say he supported the nominee, and the state GOP can figure out very quickly if it ever wants to be a viable political force again.
