President Joe Biden acknowledged Wednesday he did not know about the infant formula shortage soon enough.

“I don’t think anyone anticipated the impact of the shutdown of one facility,” Biden said to reporters when asked why he did not act sooner to help end shortages.

Well golly gosh gee willickers. Maybe your experts at the FDA should have told you that they were shutting down a facility FOR NO REASON that produces much of the formula in the US.

You freaking Democrats are so enamored with government control that you can’t see the forest for the trees.

There were good reasons to shut it down, but the FDA didn't care what that would do for the supply of infant formula in the US. They did nothing to ensure replacement product from the shut down capacity.

Biden: “So, some babies died. If they’d been aborted like we wanted, it would have saved everybody some money”.

“I don’t think anyone anticipated the impact of the shutdown of one facility,” Biden said

Typical with leftists -- they never consider the unintended or long-term consequences of their grand ideas.

Then, they respond: "Oops. Sorry."

I guess we know what he’ll be (maybe) saying one day, about having shut down domestic oil production.

Hilarious! Of course he did….how can “we” tear down the country more? Never in my almost 70 years, thought “we” would not find baby formula of the shelves. When you’re in a communist/socialist country, you line up for bread. When you’re in a Rebublic, the bread lines up for you. What are”we” in?

If Trump said this the headlines would read:

I think one could have anticipated the impact...due to the regulatory environment only large companies have the ability to get FDA clearance.

It is also much easier to consolidate manufacturing in one place...qualifying new equipment is very expensive.

From what has been in the news there are only about four large factories that account for the bulk of formula produced. And supplies were running low last fall:

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/16/business/baby-formula-shortage/index.html

Hmmm, don’t a lot of our antibiotics and vitamins come from a few sources in China? I know that and I’m not even in that line of business. But the basement mummy hasn’t figured this out.

https://www.organicconsumers.org/news/most-synthetic-vitamins-are-now-made-china

https://thecommonsenseshow.com/economics-health-tragedy/97-antibiotics-are-made-china-supply-chain-armageddon-will-see-us-pharmacy-supplies-wiped-out

So what happens if we defend Taiwan as Biden claimed would just today? Don’t those vitamins find their way into baby formula? How will we treat infections if our soldiers have to fight a war to defend Taiwan?

Why is this a Presidential problem to start with.

The FDA is responsible for the mess.

And no one is saying how much was delivered to the border or to certain "demographic" areas.

I believe there is a sufficient supply in the country and they just won't let it loose.

It's all about demographics.

I agree and disagree with parts of your post.

I agree that the FDA is responsible for the mess and someone should have known early on or figured out at some time that babies need formula and if it isn’t there, then a problem exists.

I also agree that the amount delivered to many places might be suspect. Actually they are suspect.

However, I disagree that there is a sufficient supply when the producer of 40% of the baby formula in the US is not producing for months.

There needs to be a thorough investigation by someone outside the FDA to determine what the heck was going on.

Investigation...Yeh...like that will happen.

I guess my thought is there are (hidden) stockpiles and it all has to do with demographics.

Why are we getting "0" numbers on what was sent to the border??
