“I’m afraid you’re right. But why has France been able to commit to nuclear power at the same that the Greens have paralyzed Germany?”
Germany cannot even keep open their last 3 nukes (out of what was 18 nukes) because of their Greens. Now they’re paying close to 50 cents a kwh, more than 3 times the US national average (and 4 times the Texas average).
What with the rising cost and spotty availability of diesel fuel, this will spike the price of batteries big time. It may make them far less available, too.
It's almost as if the PTB are trying to drastically limit our transportation options.
“But why has France been able to commit to nuclear power”
I haven’t checked, but I suspect that France (and for that matter, Sweden) got in under the wire, before the Globalists decided to delete nuclear power. More recently, France has been slowly moving to wean themselves off of nuclear, and replace it unicorn farts, I believe.
It takes energy to produce hydrogen, unless you have a source of magic hydrogen.
Do you?
“What with the rising cost and spotty availability of diesel fuel, this will spike the price of batteries big time.”
I watch the price of Lithium AA and AAA batteries at Sam’s. At the beginning of the year (and for several years prior), they were $1.11 each (in large packages, of course), then 2 in April they went up to $1.33, and just now at $1.54. I suspect it’s the price of the Lithium as that increase far exceeds inflation.
This ‘transition’ will not be pretty.
Yes, Germany is a disaster. I was just wondering how France avoided falling into the same trap.
I think you’re right that France benefited by getting into nuclear power early.
Hopefully they won’t pick leaders so dumb as to throw away their energy independence. But, as know from Biden, that can happen.
The one good thing about France, and what may be their saving grace, is that they really don’t give a flip about what other countries think about them.
“It takes energy to produce hydrogen, unless you have a source of magic hydrogen.”
It takes energy to do anything.
The question is cost efficiency and bet etc...
You’re response is quite incomplete. I’m looking for informed criticism.
“Do you?”
Maybe. Not magic, though.
Is IT IMMORAL TO DRIVE AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE?
I don’t think its immoral.I think its stupid when the electrical grid can barely support the present load on it with the shortage of Natural Gas and bunker oil to run the generators.
The drive to drive electric vehicles is being forced on us by the same idiots that hate Nuclear Energy. The only truly clean energy source we have.
IS IT IMMORAL TO USE ALL CAPS?
It’s immoral to forcibly confiscate my hard earned dollars to subsidize EV’s that I cannot afford and really do not want. By the way, I am looking for a new vehicle, err used vehicle. I am thinking something pre-mid-70’s so it doesn’t contain all that computer crap in it. America doesn’t make those chips and I have no trust whatsoever in our government to insure those chips will be made in America or the supply from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea will continue to exist in the future.
“ How many batteries does a Tesla need?”
Depends on how long you keep it and if you can afford $20K to replace it 🤪
It is immoral if for no other reason than it’s a cave to these filthy green bastards.
It should concern you that all those toxic components come from mining. For instance, to manufacture each EV auto battery, you must process 25,000 pounds of brine for the lithium, 30,000 pounds of ore for the cobalt, 5,000 pounds of ore for the nickel, and 25,000 pounds of ore for copper. All told, you dig up 500,000 pounds of the earth’s crust for just one battery.
All of that to make a battery which is nothing more than an energy storage device. You still need to make the energy that will be stored in those batteries.
BTW, the energy storage device on a ICE vehicle is a simple gas tank.
Yup, this.
Do you have a degree in chemistry or engineering?
Or do you just routinely engage in mental masturbation because it’s the only thing you’re good at
EV ping!
