About a mile hike into the Rogue River State Game Area, hidden in the forest, somebody recently built a bunker, complete with a reinforced wall and sandbags.
“It is a mystery,” said the Kent County man who discovered the bunker on Friday and immediately tried reporting it to authorities.
He didn’t want to be identified, he said, in case it was created by a militia group, possibly as a private training grounds.
Somebody put some work into it. It looks more like a convenient and safe way to have a marshmallow roast than a bunker...
I grew up near an abandoned Nike missile base. It was out in the woods, in the middle of nowhere. Unless you were with some people, creepy as hell. It was the place to go and party as a teen.
My first reaction is always to snitch to the authoritays...
Maybe it’s the Michigan Governor’s, ‘Safe Place?’ ;)

Sounds like our government at work! I bet the Michigan DNR referred him to the US Dept of Homeland Security, thus completing the circle. Maybe that what Psaki meant when she said she would circle back.
Oh for crying out loud, it looks like a fort that we dug back when I was a teenager..

A friend of mine and I built a cool fort when we were twelve. The little neighborhood girls, who were NOT invited in, did not think to call the FBI.
First, that isn’t a bunker.
It looks a little bit to me, that is a kind of “foundation” for some type of shelter.
Maybe for a wall tent. “Bushcraft” is kind of a hobby with a lot of people these days. Looks like more trouble than it was worth, whatever the purpose. But for winter camping, it could be useful, some sort of home made deal, wood stove, etc.
That’s a mighty fine looking fighting position, and conversation pit.
