Roberts joining is welcomed and a bit newsy.
I suspect that he joined the majority because he saw that his vote made no difference one way or the other.
My first thought too.
“The vote to overturn Roe was 5-4, with Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett joining Alito’s opinion. Chief Justice John Roberts filed a separate opinion, agreeing with the court’s decision to uphold the Mississippi law but arguing that the court should not have decided the broader question of whether the Constitution protects abortion at all.”
The dude is such a wuss.
It is. I am somewhat surprised but welcome nonetheless!
Robert joining makes me really uneasy. I wonder if this all wasn’t a ploy to enable Congress now to decide abortion and make it law of the land. I feel like Pelosi, Schumer, will use nuclear option soon to ram through abortion up to and including day of birth. This is an election year aftercall and using nuclear to make abortion legal gives them cover to do so.
Maybe just over-thinking a rare win that includes Roberts.
