Another good example. What about Nidal Hasan who murdered 13 people, and injured 30 others? He was eventually dismissed from the Army, and stripped of his rank. I'm assuming he is no longer eligible for VA benefits, but up until the time he was found guilty, he was still drawing a $6,000 salary a month from the Army, which would mean he still had access to military benefits while he was awaiting trial. Obama was President, and because he proclaimed the shootings as "workplace violence," the military victims were initially denied benefits.
I’d suggest it’s time to end the VA, and just give regular GS-employee type insurance to vets.

After receipt of notice of the return of an indictment for such an offense the Secretary shall suspend payment of such gratuitous benefits pending disposition of the criminal proceedings. If any individual whose right to benefits has been terminated pursuant to this section is granted a pardon of the offense by the President of the United States, the right to such benefits shall be restored as of the date of such pardon.
Cut and dry law. I don’t know if it has ever been challenged in court and maybe unconstitutional, but as of now it is the law and the Secretary must enforce it as written.

I remember that story, and Otto Warmbier. Hussein is still a curse on this nation, and more than likely, is giving sleepy Joe his orders.
The U.S. Army authorized hormone treatments for him back in 2015 while in Fort Leavenworth. I'm not sure if he's lost his military benefits. Who knows what Obama authorized when he commuted his 35 year sentence.
