German energy supply giant Uniper said Friday it is asking the government for a bailout amid a growing natural gas crunch due to the war in Ukraine.
Uniper, which is Germany's biggest importer of Russian gas, said in a statement that its board has applied to the government for “stabilization measures.”
The move could see the government pump billions of euros (dollars) into Uniper to keep the company afloat. Germany's Cabinet had approved a plan preparing for such measures earlier this week.

The Germans will pay top dollar for all the
LNG they can find. Third world and developing countries that depend on that gas will really suffer. However marked increases in energy costs and subsidies will weaken the German economy.
It’s not a “German energy supplier”
It’s an importer of other people’s energy.
F** ‘em. They either chose or let the GermanHillary force them into going green crappola. They should have generator backup for all contingencies. SH** happens. The company is run by engineers, right? Engineers know that SH** happens (sometimes ‘cause of their latest “fix”).
Not having generator or distribution backup is like going on a camping trip without a spare tire. Only a TWOT from NYC or LA could be so dumb (and deserve it).
