Well, maybe half of the GOP readers of the NYT, but then, they are not politically reliable, anyway. Turns out, that is a small proportion of those who read the NYT, so a very small demographic, not particularly significant.

Boomers got all butthurt when on another thread I said Desantis has the same MAGA attitude is actually fiscally conservative, is younger and more appealing to younger generations and most importantly doesn’t have the negative baggage mean tweets whatever. There are a lot of fiscal conservatives that like Desantis who unlike Cruz who also is a real fiscal conservative is a natural born citizen. Not that it matters after the one was allowed to.serve twice by both sides and all three branches of govt. That pony left the barn at least for democrats. To win at the national level you absolutely must have a percentage of not only the independent voters but also the youth which now are approaching three to one in numbers vs the old folks when they show up at the ballot box a good chunk needs to be won over with hearts and minds.

Place your bets. Anyone want to put some money on the poll?

DeSantis first. Trump second. That is if “voting” actually mattered.

Trump beat all comers in 2016. You’d have to run in Trump’s lane to secure his base and DeSantis is probably the only Republican who would stand anything like a chance against him. We know what victory looks like and who can bring it. Anything less will be ignored.

Who is saying this? Oh, our old friend the NY Times. Their day as The Last Word in what’s newsworthy has come and gone.

If he’s running against any dem Trump would be 95+%. Another McMuffin NeverTrumper stooge like Mittens might poll 15%. DiSantis is too smart to challenge Trump, if he wants it.

I dunno what the % is, but there are a good number of people who just are not all that interested in a constant show and prefer someone who’s more interested in keeping the trains running on time than in being noticed.
More folks seem to be looking for less drama with a good, knowledgeable low key administrator.

“... a significant number vowing to abandon him if he wins the nomination.”

Oh how kind of the NY SLIMES to give this advice to help the GOP.

Please nothing more than wishful thinking/psyops propaganda here...

Trying to get the Trump supporters to actually believe they are becoming the minority and try to get them to question their support based on “HERD MENTALITY”... Oh if everyone else is willing to dump Trump I guess I will to...

Nonsensical, and transparent.... don’t believe it for one second folks.

Why DeSantis and not Trump?

Not trolling. Asking a legitimate question.

With the real successes that trump provided during his term I am inclined to vote for him. Yes, he can be an obnoxious ass, but it doesn’t hurt my feelings, so I don’t really care and never use that as a criteria to judge him.

Trump’s Executive Order to create an employment classification system, taht took effect too late, would probably be a death knell for the deep state since it would empower the executive to fire some positions. I think he figured this out too late to be able to get it to work, but it would be reimplemented on day 1 and would get things rolling in the right direction.

I like DeSantis as president, too, but he is still young and could wait 4 years for Trump to start the work, and then take up the mantle and continue fixing the problems. Trump. DeSantis, DeSantis, 3 terms, 12 years.
