Ukraine Fears Western Capitulation on Russia as Cracks Emerge
Newsweek ^ | 7/16/22 | David Brennan

Posted on 07/16/2022 6:54:46 AM PDT by JonPreston

Russia is claiming two significant victories in its ongoing sanctions war with the West, after Canada agreed to waive restrictions on a key gas pipeline component and the European Union clarified its position on the standoff over the Kaliningrad exclave.

"The truth is that some European politicians might be more interested in Russian gas rather than in Ukraine's victory," Oleksandr Merezhko, a member of Ukraine's parliament and the chair of the body's foreign affairs committee, told Newsweek.

Merezhko—a member of Zelensky's Servant of the People party—shared a similar view from Kyiv. "To us it's a dangerous political precedent," he explained. "I'm also concerned that with autumn and winter coming some European countries might display more interest in finding a compromise with Russia regarding supply of Russian gas and oil."

It's rational not to want to freeze to death.

It's irrational to freeze to death over the latest of dozens of border revisions in The Ukraine over the past centuries. [The Ukraine means The Borderland in all the local languages. It was never a sovereign nation until an accident of history at the end of the Cold War.

the fact UKR opinions on how much the rest of the world should sacrifice for them is given such prominence would be laughable if it weren’t so serious.

as far as I am concerned, UKR is simply a puppet voice of the war faction in the US. give us more weapons, shoot down russian planes for us (no fly zone), shame on you if you don’t!

Remember; The same people who gave us COVID masks, experimental vaccines and transsexual celebrations are now tinkering with nuclear war.

In the old days the Rats were for “peace”. But they have turned into warmonger. Something has to happen to stop this madness. I can see both sides but something has to give. What a mess.

Ukraine can fight the Russians for the next 100 years if they want, as long as its not with our money.
Easy enough for Zelensky to strut all over the place when someone else is paying his bills.
the Russians are lucky. They have HUGE reserves of oil and natural gas and are the world's biggest exporters of fertilizer and wheat. Plus they have the biggest nuclear arsenal on the planet. No woke regime from Ukraine is going to beat them.

Yup.
Good news is, one of the first places Russia will nuke if there is a nuclear war, is DC.

the USA’s neocons have been instrumental in supporting the most radical, nationalist (some say neo-nazi) elements in Ukraine.

The policy was designed to spark a war.

The only things of significance Russia has achieved, if you call it that, is the loss of 50% of its best troops in the first moth of the war. And proving the RGF, Naval Infantry, VDV and VKF are hollow and poorly trained.

We should not merely “capitulate”. We should turn off the arms and cash spigots and let Russia and Ukraine annihilate each other, while we take care of the mounting problems here at home.
