Florida’s Surplus Budget Allows DeSantis to Help Families with $450 Per Child to Fight Inflation
Breitbart ^ | 07.22.2022 | Penny Starr

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is overseeing a relief effort for some 60,000 families in the state hit hardest by rising inflation with a one-time payment of $450 per child.

“These letters are real,” DeSantis’s press secretary, Christina Pushaw, said in a tweet with a copy of the documents families will receive.

Pushaw also pushed back against claims that these payments are hypocritical because of criticism by conservatives that Biden’s excessive federal spending is the cause for inflation.

"This is socialism."

Really? Obviously you can't tell the difference between charity and socialism.

He’s up for re-election this fall. What a coincidence. Vote buying.

Just what we need, more welfare on top of our already bloated welfare state. I guess it’s OK since a Republican came up with it.

Only a committed leftist could equate a .gov handout (other peoples money aka. socialism) with charity.

This money goes to foster and adopted families and single parents only. It supports his pro life stance. FWIW the money came to Florida in one of the Covid packages. Since the dems figure the tv production has finished off trump, don’t underestimate the slander damage, desantis is now number one target so expect more complaints about how bad he is from the deep state.

“you can’t tell the difference between charity and socialism.”

Do you honestly believe that “charity” is taking money from someone at gunpoint and giving it to someone else? That’s what is happening when the government does “charity”.

We are talking a onetime measly 50 million dollars or so gift to 60,000 needy Florida families here. If you don't like it (especially if you live in another state like Alabama or North Carolina) then too bad.

And this is why I prefer Trump in 2024.

I’m reminded of the old joke by Ronald reagan, we’re from the government. We’re here to help.

Free money worsens inflation. May help the recipient temporarily but adding money to the system increases inflation.

He should kept the money. There will be no surplus in a year. Better to plan ahead.

Lifting ideas from leftists isn’t a plan.

Maybe he got the idea from President Trump?

And, yes, I think Ron DeSantis is great and hope he's our next president but this isn't a solution.

And here in Virginia, under another governor I support wholeheartedly, my wife and I each received EBT cards loaded with money that we never applied for or asked for. The reasoning was to help provide food for our kids during the summer while they're out of school.

Everyone's throwing money around these days apparently.

Ever heard of the CARES act? You think Trump is concerned about spending? What a joke.
