“A couple years ago, the thought of the US Marine Corps giving up its tanks seemed suspect. Now, maybe the same amount of money would be better spent on Javelin missiles, or drones. Warfare has been changed.”

Warfare changing is “all the hype” as these experts study the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Take it with a grain of salt, my grandmother(1920-2016) and her twin sister(1920-2013) told me about what the American Establishment was “selling them” prior to WW2.

They were telling them the German army and air force were invincible, while the japs couldn’t fly airplanes and had wooden ships and submarines at the bottom of Tokyo Bay.

We got hit at Pearl and our attitudes changed....from propaganda to reality.

I’m not military, I’m a private sector guy who knows zilch about our armed forces.

However, if I could have one type of weapon going into the next big world war:

It would be huge missiles with conventional warheads. Thousands of non nuclear missiles bombarding cities and military targets will make a huge impact.(Super sizing those V-2 rockets that terrorized London at the end of WW2, is what I’m talking about)

if Z isn’t to busy making gay sex marriage legal maybe he could find time to negotiate a cease fire and save ukranian lives for a change.

It's interesting that so many of those posters promoting the Russian side in this war claim to be so concerned about saving Ukrainian lives. It's just disingenuous as hell.

The best wisdom to echo on this subject would be that of Ukrainians, Poles, Lithuanians, Czechs, Latvians, Estonians and Slovaks.

Looks like the population of Loserville to me.

Hang with losers, become a loser. Also end up taking cold showers in the middle of winter, before you scamper down to the communal warming room.

No, they are doing a lot better than Russians.

Somebody has to be an advocate for the cannon fodder.

We don't hear voices on the other side expressing concern for the press-ganged and shell-shocked denizens of the Donbas Maginot.

Look at map, you blithering idiot,

All I know for sure is Russia was supposed to mop this up in three days and it hasn't. Propaganda on both sides is plentiful and profitable for someone, I can't imagine who, no really I can't.

Just because the TeeVee tells you stuff, it doesn't make it true.

Check your fuel/power bills - gasoline, natural gas and electric.

Mine have all got the Loserville Price Hike on them.

I can’t believe I’m having to explain to FR Class of 98 that the TeeVee just might be lying to you.

Extra points for mentioning my faves, the Buryats, and the Rus army (Chechens) stealing Ukrainian washing machines.

Chechnya is only 500 miles from the Eastern Ukraine

They have major problems with logistics, training/troop quality, and equipment.

The Russian military officers and intelligence agents all lied to Putin. So Putin thought that his military was ready to go because it is completely modernized. Well, in a sense, they are able to beat a lesser foe like ISIS in Syria but not an advanced 2nd world nation (with arms from 1st world allies).

Here’s a cut’n’paste post of mine from the beginning of all this:

Ukraine officials and media are lying to us.

Russian officials and media are lying to us.

USA officials and media are damn sure lying to us.

EU officials and media are lying to us.

UK officials and media are lying to us.

Etc.

In war, the first casualty is the truth.

I am completely uninterested in US involvement until this Administration comes clean on all the Hunter Biden, and Clinton, bribes from Ukraine. Which isn’t going to happen.

That was from April, and I’d been saying the same for a while, that’s just what I came across first.

It still applies.

I am just real tired of hearing propaganda from all sides.
Seeing Dr. Z in his clean t shirt mugging it for the cameras. You don’t think Russia could carpet- and firebomb Kiev if they really wanted to? You don’t think they could bomb all dams, factories, power generators?.. If Ukraine could counterattack and drive straight to Moscow couldn’t they do it now since the Russians are losing?
Obviously the people outside of the conflict itself know or are telling very little. There is no way to take sides. Even the reason for the conflict is murky. I believe it is like so much fake news...great for media business people making money on viewership and clicks.

Somebody has to be an advocate for the cannon fodder.

And yet, you pro-Russian types literally never mention any concern for the fate of the average Russian soldier. Your expressed concern is always about Ukrainian soldiers, and saying that's why the Ukrainians should surrender.

So as I said - disingenuous as hell. You don't really give two craps about the lives of the Ukrainians. You're just using that as a lever to argue for immediate Ukrainian surrender, and Russian victory.

I agree that the daily propaganda is excessive, but there is plenty enough information to take sides because the core fact of Russia rolling over the Ukrainian border and seizing territory that wasn't even anywhere near the Donbass isn't in dispute.

There's also nothing murky about whether Ukraine was trying to join NATO. So that just boils down to a judgment on whether Ukraine saying "we'd like to join NATO someday", and NATO responding with "Someday, maybe you can" justified that Russian invasion.
