Surely we can find a Republican to blame this on.
When I was in HS, in the 70’s, there would have been half a dozen rifles in guys pickups, in plain sight, in their gun rack in the cab, ready for hunting.
Someone snitched…
I thought your vehicle and the contents of it were your own private property? so what if the kid had a gun in the car? maybe the owner felt the need to have access to personal protection in case a school shooter attached the school. after the non-performance of the police at Uvalde a couple of months back, who could blame them?
I know times are different. But when I went to H.S. plenty of kids had guns in window racks in their PU’s
In North Dakota, most cars have guns in them come October. Pheasant season doncha know.
Like a lot of FReepers, when we were in high school it would have been odd to NOT see a gun in a car. Unlocked too. Wonder what changed?
This should surprise no one. Sex, drugs, hip hop and firearms are the new norm for a certain teen demographic these days.
When I was in school in the early seventies it was common to see pickups in the parking lot with shotguns in rifle racks.
My mother, born in 1917 rode a horse to school. The boys would leave their rifle in a saddle holster all day and then hunt meat on the way home. If they shot something the family had meat that night.
How times change.
Rats working over time to help put the icing on their gun control dream cake.
When I was in High School, there was hardly a vehicle in the parking lot that DIDN’T have a .22 or a shotgun, extra ammo and some sort of knife in it, LOL!
Kids these days. Such amateurs.
However - we never EVER would’ve though of bringing them into the school. We needed them (and our fishing poles & ‘assault’ tackle boxes!) to hunt or fish after school and before we needed to be home for chores and supper.
Those two hours of any kids’ day were HEAVEN! We certainly weren’t going to screw it up by shooting or stabbing one another, LOL!
I kept a rifle in my trunk in school and took a large WWII bayonet to elementary class for show and tell.
“Schools in the district have metal detectors, but they aren’t currently meant for everyday use”
WTH does that mean????
We use to go shooting in the woods across the parking lot after school. No one cared.
Well, deer season is about to start!
