Richard Bugg has been a theater professor at Southern Utah University for 30 years. According to the Deseret News, he’s also suing his employer for infringing on his free speech rights. At issue? Bugg’s refusal to cave to the pronoun protocol.
The origin of the suit began on the first day of classes in the fall semester of 2021. A student reportedly told Bugg to use they/them pronouns. Bugg declined because of his personal beliefs but an agreement was reached with the student in which Bugg would perform the verbal gymnastics necessary to refer to the student by name only. Unfortunately, he slipped two or three times and used a female pronoun. Although he had tried to find a compromise, he accidentally committed the sin of using the wrong pronoun a few times.
This resulted in two complaints to the school’s Title IX office. The first complaint was from the aggrieved party. The second was from another student in the class who was offended on behalf of the first student. Naturally, this triggered an investigation, since that is what colleges do now. The outcome was the determination that Bugg had violated two school policies and was guilty of “discrimination and harassment based on gender identity,” the Deseret News reported. As if that was not dramatic enough, according to Bugg’s lawsuit, the school said his refusal to use the pronouns was so horrible that it denied the student equal access to education. How the college arrived at this conclusion is beyond me, and probably beyond most rational people.
Of course, there were sanctions and penance to be done to get back in the school’s good graces. For one, Bugg was to submit to education (read: re-education) about how using gender-neutral pronouns is now considered correct grammar.

His appeal was denied. In fact, the provost directed Bugg to edit his syllabus for the 2022 school year to avoid any pronoun problems. And so, Bugg has filed a lawsuit in federal court. In his suit, he asks that the school state that he did not violate the policy and that refusal to use pronouns is not a Title IX violation.
Use this pronoun: FU.
“Pronoun mistake” = You failed to comply with Orwellian Newspeak.....
My pronoun is ‘Fvck Biden’.
Everyone is compelled to use my pronoun. There will be no freedom in America until you address me appropriately.
Maybe some freepers may disagree with this but maybe all U.S. professors who ever make even one "Pronoun Mistake" should all be given life sentences in prison.

Works for me, Fvck Biden. Good to know ya!
Never participate in the crazy of these gender loons,
RE: Never participate in the crazy of these gender loons,
Well, this Professor did not participate (by accident), look what that got him...
This is dumb. When we talk to other people, we use the second person: “you”.
All this fighting over preferred pronouns is really about controlling other people and their speech.
When I visited the campus of Southern Utah University in 1991, I saw a student carrying a rifle and chatting with his friends. He was probably about to go target shooting or hunting. If he had openly carried a rifle at, say, UC Riverside, only five hours down the road, a SWAT team would have been sicced on him and the school would have been locked down.
If the student can identify as the opposite sex, then the professor should be able to identify as a realist.

Yes, GFY is perhaps the only response to this nonsense.
Just refer to all students by their first names. “ Jimmy didn’t hand in Jimmy’s assignment again. If Jimmy isn’t careful I will give an F to Jimmy. “
There is bound to be trouble from this pronoun thing, mistakes made from just trying to keep track of them all. Some years ago I taught some ESL classes at a factory where most of the employees were Hipanic. On the first day of class, two women came into my room to see if they were in my class. I asked their names: Maria and Abel. Well, Abel was a man, but he sure looked like a woman: women’s clothing, jewelry, makeup, hairstyle, mannerisms. And guess what? Asking for pronouns wasn’t a thing back then, but I and everyone else referred to Abel as he and him, and that was fine with him.
My recent employer had a thing for pronouns and when asked what mine were I said, “ ‘His Excellency’ and ‘Your Majesty’ “.
I was never bothered about it again.
It was never about equality, or equity, or justice, or inclusiveness. It was always about identifying and eliminating all those individuals who don’t believe what the Party demands they believe.
The USA doesn’t have gulags yet. Instead they get you fired and then they destroy you personally. Same end result as the gulags.
And don’t think it’s the colleges that are doing it. It’s actually the government that’s doing it. How can I say that? because the government refuses to prosecute the colleges for their actions that violate the Constitution. So the government is doing it by proxy. Same as if the government were doing it.
