“looks like Mike Rounds is a never-trumper-…”

Machts nichts. The important thing is that he is opposed to advancing Linda’s TRANSPARENT ATTEMPT AT SABOTAGE.

This is a chance for conservatives to avoid negative attacks from Dems and assert conservative viewpoint by saying they oppose this measure because the Constitution does not give Congress this power.

I also do NOT support Grahamnesty’s proposal. Abortion is a States business and not in the wheelhouse of the fooking Federal gubmint.

Many European countries have this restriction in place.

I think he probably meant this as a national standard upon which most people could agree (only the weirdest Dem loonies support partial birth abortion, late-term, etc.)

The latter are always available if there’s a situation that threatens the health of the mother, but that’s rarely the case.

So in principle this is good, and I think he meant it as a reasonable national compromise.

Maybe it would pass constitutional review, maybe not.

The problem is that the pro-abortion forces have seized on this and I honestly think he’s such a clueless idiot in so many ways that he didn’t realize this was exactly what was going to happen.

Graham is the old school “reach across the aisle” GOPer, and when they bite his hand off, he just thinks another one will grow out. Which it doesn’t.

Abortion is extremely divisive issue. Learn from Kansas results. Young women who seldom vote, will come out and vote because they want abortion available unrestricted.

I don’t see any constitutional authority for congress to legislate abortions — any more than the US Supreme Court had the power.

I really don’t like Lindsey. It’s a state’s issue. Leave it alone.

Rounds is a RINO idiot, too-but at least he appears to understand that the SC has ruled-finally, after 50 years-that abortion rules/law is a matter for each state and the Fed has NO SAY in it at all. Women who want to get their unborn kids killed can just travel to a state that allows it-hopefully, they will just stay there, too...

France and other countries have a more restrictive abortion law than this.

And, many red states have far more restrictive laws now than France and those other countries. I'm glad they do.

But, this legislation has no chance of passing with Democrats in control of Congress. It's the wrong issue for Republicans to be focusing on nationally when inflation is at a 40-year high, the borders are open and the murder rates have reached record highs in some places.

What states? Often, the U.S. has more liberal abortion laws than other countries, but the media portrays it the opposite.
