‘Gross incompetence’: Russian bid to control Ukrainian airspace fails spectacularly, strategists say
The Washington Times ^ | September 27, 2022 | Ben Wolfgang

Posted on 09/27/2022 4:14:16 PM PDT by familyop

...said retired Air Force Gen. David Deptula. “In fact, they don’t have the same air doctrine as the West, they don’t have the same level of training, they suffer from gross incompetence and poor leadership..."...In some cases, Russian jets appear reluctant to enter Ukrainian airspace at all...a lot of what they’ve done is they stay in Russian airspace and they fire into Ukraine with long-range missiles,” the U.S. airpower strategist told The Times. “There is a sense they’re avoiding being shot at by staying in their friendly territory and using their weapons capabilities” at longer range.

Putin isn't drafting anyone. He is calling up reserve military only.

Oh yeah?

Russia vows to fix mistakes after old, sick people mobilized

If you say so, but my senses tell me this article you presented is nothing more than pure BS. Why? Because it makes no sense for Putin to pick old sick people when he has over a million reservists to choose from.

Sounds smart to me, staying out of their range while keeping them in your range. Sort of what we did to those Iraqi tanks in t(e first gulf war and people thought it was a brilliant idea. This guy is a hack.

“Russia has the ability to produce its own weapons and ammo. Ukraine has to get them from others, namely the U.S. & NATO, and a little, very little, from the EU. Problem there is both NATO & the U.S. military are now running low”

If that is so and we know that Russian manufacturing is hindered by sanctions, corruption, and inefficiency, or none of that at all if you choose, then why can’t Western countries and any other countries that make ammo, keep up with the Ukrainian needs?

So Russia can make its own ammo, while the United States and the rest of the world can make Ukraine’s.

One thing we have learned about Russia, is the numbers they claim are meaningless, the world thought all kinds of wonderful things about Russian numbers of tanks and everything before Ukraine peeled the bark off of them.

Our aircraft were in Iraq while hitting those tanks.

How do you know what the casualty rate is?
This is a state secret on both sides.

The bulk of the weapons Ukraine is receiving are from the EU, notably from Eastern Europe. This includes btw, the bulk of the ammo its using, as Poland, Romania and Bulgaria have fired up their factories to supply 152mm, Grad rockets and other legacy ammo. The bulk of the artillery in Uke service is still the ex-Soviet stuff. It was running short of ammo for them for a while there but it seems the EU shipments have been catching up. And of course most of the tanks and AFVs its received are also Eastern Euro stocks, mainly from Poland.

Now, in monetary value the US trumps everyone but thats because US equipment is expensive. The US is also subsidizing Polish and other arms supplies. In actual numbers of common frontline equipment the US has supplied relatively little.

The stuff the US and the Euros are supplying arent running low. There are large US stocks of HIMARS rockets and 155mm. And at least 400 HIMARS systems and at least 1000 MLRS (the tracked version). Ukraine has received only 25-30 of these.

Etc and etc. Look into each type, compare “open source” of what the Euros have/had, and whats been delivered, and whatever details of whats leaked into the press, notably in Europe (better than the US MSM). Do not accept anyones opinion, be your own intelligence analyst.

Because the Russian system is screwed up. Local officials, civil and military, are trying to do whats never been tried before - calling up the reserves for refresher training is something they’ve never done since Soviet times. Data is likely corrupt. Also like any combloc system its all about quotas. Orders are top-down, and feedback through official channels is not tolerated.

And then there is the difference between publicly announced policy and whatever actual orders are filtering down to the bureaucracy. And how these are being interpreted. Well oiled machine it aint.

Why did Russia take Georgia? Why did Russia take Crimea? Why shouldn't Russia take Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia? Why do Sweden and Finland want to enter NATO suddenly?

Blowing up pipelines is NOT in the US’ interest. The only thing that action would do is make more money for Russia due to increased oil and nat gas prices.

I don't care who wins what. I do care about an idiot nuclear power invading countries whenever it feels like. One day they invade a country that bites back. That is what happened.

25 million, not a million.
The partial mobilization only tapped into roughly 1%.

Russia did not take Georgia. Russia intervened to quell the violence erupting there. You really have no clue as to what you are talking about. You just spout the BS the MSM tells you without ever even questioning what you are being told.

Russia took back Crimea because the U.S. & N.A.T.O. fomented a coup against the duly elected President of Ukraine. He entered earlier this year because for 8 years the Nazis in Eastern Ukraine have been attacking Russian speaking Ukrainians. In 2017 a new Law on Education was passed which restricted the use of Russian as a language of instruction. President Poroshenko took it a step further and prohibited Russian to be spoken in public whatsoever. This only fueled the Nazis to commit even more atrocities against the Russian speaking Ukrainians. These citizens have lived in Ukraine for generations, they are not newly minted citizens. Zelenskyy actually campaigned to end the Russian language rule, but then reneged on that campaign promise.

The bulk of the weapons Ukraine is receiving are from the EU, notably from Eastern Europe.

That's nothing but a bald-faced lie. The U.S. and N.A.T.O. are providing the overwhelming bulk of the weapons, Ammo, and money. EU contributions have been as weak as their contributions have been to NATO for decades upon decades.

You make these grandiose claims, yet you provide no source to even confirm the veracity of your claim. I did a quick search, and the following was the only one that I found that even remotely hits on the topic.

The following article is from Jan of 2021:

January 8 2021: Ukrainian state-owned company purchased 152-mm shells made in Bulgaria from Poland

As you can see, this was more than a year before Russia invaded, and the shells were purchased.

What country of the Eastern EU are you from exactly?

To address your other post, reservists in the U.S. are paid to be reservists and while I do not know how Russia's reservists operate, U.S. reservists generally perform a minimum of 39 days of military duty per year.

I guess we will see if they are as you claim, or not. But that still means that they are not conscripting people off the streets, like our media is claiming to be the case.
