Analysts Move Pennsylvania Senate Race from ‘Lean Democrat’ to ‘Toss Up’

Analysts at the Cook Political Report, who predict the probable outcomes of Senate races, moved Pennsylvania’s race from a “Lean Democrat” back to a “Toss-up” with five weeks left before the election between Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Mehmet Oz.

The Cook Political Report explained in its rating change a “key caveat” to the initial rating change to a Lean Democrat” six weeks ago was the lack of Republicans sending in the race against Fetterman and Oz’s favorability rating. Fast forward six weeks, the outlet explained that with only five weeks before the elections, “that’s exactly where [they] find this race” after talking with GOP strategists and lawmakers who initially thought the state would be a loss for the Republicans.

A poll came out today showing Fetterman up 6 points over Oz. Would not be surprised if the left published this bogus poll to counteract the soon-to-be-released news that Cook was moving this race from "Lean Dem" to "Toss-Up".

Of course, Real Clear Politics will count the bogus poll as legit and continue showing Fetterman in the lead.

If Bevan at RCP hasn’t weighted the polls he uses to compute an average, he should begin. Weight by points of error, over or under and for which party over last 3-5 cycles.

We’d likely find 75% of polls used oversample Ds and miss by 3-5 points in the D favor. Probably true too for 75% of any and all polls everywhere.

Well, it’s certainly positive if polls are trending towards the Republicans, even if some polls such as in PA still show Fetterman in the lead.
