GOP leaps back into contention in Arizona Senate race
Politico via MSN ^ | 10/22/2022 | Natalie Allison

Just a month after national Republicans appeared to give up on Arizona Republican Blake Masters, the Trump-backed Senate candidate has staged a comeback — and Arizona is in play.

National and Arizona Democratic operatives are privately fretting that incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly is endangered, noting a shift by previously undecided voters toward the GOP, aided by a patchwork of new Republican spending to bolster Masters. Recent polling has shown Kelly’s lead shrinking to a few points, much tighter than surveys showed throughout August and September.

“There’s a very narrow path to victory for Democrats in Arizona,” said Roy Herrera, a Democratic election attorney and consultant in the state. “Any poll that shows the Democrats are doing any better than the low or mid-single digits is probably not accurate, or won’t be maintained through the election cycle.”

After Masters' poor performance in post-primary polling, many observers appeared to conclude that the 36-year-old venture capitalist was a longshot to unseat Kelly, a former astronaut with a formidable fundraising operation.

A Democrat close to the Kelly campaign said Arizona should never have been considered “safe” for the party this year — even as Masters struggled earlier in the general election.

“We believe this is a race that’s within a point in either direction, and there’s still a good chance that we would lose,” the person said. “And it’s important people understand that.”

Maybe it’s not a come back and Masters has been ahead the entire time. The media just can’t report anything straight.

From this article, it sounds as if Dems are bracing for defeat in AZ.

GOP leaps back into contention

Politico, are you sure that wasn't a "pounce"? Pouncing is what your Republicans do.

I feel pretty safe in saying Masters will win AZ in 2 weeks. I think the Dim ship has sailed and Biden and his puppet masters could not care less. His pen will continue to destroy America for 2 more years.

The commercials against Masters are nearly continuous on daytime local Phoenix television.

Some of them are way over the top, like the one attempting to link him with “white supremacists” and throwing a swastika on the screen.

The sound bite where he mentions privatizing Social Security, in my opinion, could be more damaging, as it is him on the recording. His position is quite defensible, and any plane would not affect present or near future retirees, but because the sound bite doesn’t include those facts, it can sway a certain type of voter.

It will be interesting to see how many “election deniers” will come forth, if it is a Ultra-MAGA victory.

He didn’t finish the sentence. He should have also said “this is why we cheat in every single election.”

Is a 5 seat GOP pick up possible?
RCP is projecting +3 GOP senate. Would have to get 2 more from:

New Hampshire .... possible. Polling is within striking distance (Dem lead 1 to 3 points)

Colorado / Vermont ... unlikely. Polling is just outside margin of error (Dem lead 7 ish points). These would require a MASSIVE GOP turn out.

And of course, the Dem cheating has to be considered.

For those who don’t know, this cycle ballots are clearly marked Reb () and Dem ().
It is super easy to simply “Run the table” filling them out.
I can see almost no voter backing Lake to switch to Kelly for a Senator pick.
None!

80% that AZ is going to be a Senate pickup.

Journalism Rules

Whenever a Republican takes a lead, it's due to "increased campaign spending", but when a Democrat takes a lead, it's due to the "triumph of sanity".

Could be but Kelly has been lying his ass off and smearing Masters in a lot of ads.

The debate exposed most of the Kelly fraud and I believe it turned a lot of heads.

Now Kelly's ads show him wearing a red cap with an American Flag.

They're very deceptive, but Arizonan's have seen right through it.

"a shift by previously undecided voters toward the GOP, aided by a patchwork of new Republican spending to bolster Masters"

Gee, i wonder why it took a patchwork to do it. Maybe if the GOP leadership was not sending money to Alaska to help a RINO vs a republican they could actually help more here.

Lake is a mega star at the top of the ticket and she and Hamadeh are boosting Masters and Finchem

If the Dems win these races when everybody hates them, we know elections are not we were told they were.

You have that right. Everything coming out of the media will have a slant in favor of the Democrats.

If anyone makes fun of me for being against change, I can bring up Arizona was once the GOP stronghold home of Senator Barry Goldwater and now is apparently an iffy outpost of Mexico.

They can say “Yeah and the Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire was number one, too.”
